hey hey.. i got a 80mm edapo. was tryin to find some help on ideas and thoughts on gettin the best form the cam . scb 2000.. here is a video .. i knwo it looked better at 256. but things i might be missing.. www.facebook.com/video.php?v=800801679970814&l=7051588144958125246i know diff scopes give diff results. but is there anything i can do to improve the videos.. in basic across the board i noticed with just a cam lens on say a 50mm . the cam is sweet. but its very wide field. thinking of barlowing the cam lens for giggles.. but say with the 80mm what ideas are there that i dont know ? also say with a c8 ... for the deeper stuff the 80 cant get to .. or might i have a half lemon cam ? i say that in the respect of. the guy i got it form had 2 .. sold this one.. makes me wonder.. as i dont have no clue what to compare to .. any info at all would be awsome ... thank you phil

Phil, to encourage you that the SCB-2000 camera does work well in an ED80, here is a short You Tube from a user in Brazil.
Just need some of the SCB-2000 users to help you with the settings in the menu to get the best from the camera.
But I also notice when watching your video, do you have adjustment in any software for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation etc? It's amazing the difference just s few adjustment in Brightness and Contrast makes.

yes Dman. i think that might be half the issue. the software i use . it is the grabbers own software. if i use say splitcam or some others. i get a messed up bar across the bottom.. ill have to get a screen of it one of these nites when the pillows go.. the softare it does use. has a bright and contrast hue sliders. i do mess with them a bit here and there. it helps some..
the video i think i seen on your site? or your clubs site.. that is what got me all wondering what iam doing wrong.. i do go to a dark site .. compared to city. its dark enough to see the milky way .

Phil, the video controls that come with video grabbers aren't very good. You can use the Free version of the Mallincam Camera Control software to adjust all the Video settings better. The only thing it won't do is control the actual camera settings. It only does that for Mallincam cameras. get it here: www.mallincamusa.com/Files/Control%20Software/MallinCam_ControlX%20V28.msiIn the software just select your Video Grabber as the capture camera and all should be good.

no idea on that john.. is the privacy mask in mallin cam ? but here is something i found when i try sharpcap.. if i change the resolution. it will go away .. but this is only in sharp cap. sharp cap crashes everytime i goto change sharpness or hue .. so i cant really use it ... win 8
ill have to recheck with mallin software. for a resolution adjestment. didnt see it off hand.. i might get some time tonite. if i do ill fiddle with it . if not . then tommorow nite form a god dark spot..

ok here is a video of bode. iam doing nothing.. no lights changing. nothing changing around me at all.. but watch what this cam does.. this is with a c8. is this normal ?? about 35 secs in. i change settings. but the 1st 35 secs is what i think is telling me this cam is off some how.. again i dont know as i havent been doing it long enough to know for sure.. cam has fan on it. it does it now and again on diff settings. sometimes its 64 sometimes on 128 and as in the video 256.. www.facebook.com/video.php?v=801552676562381&l=5416025302025354067also still working on mallin cam. to get rid of the bar on the bottom of the video.. so this is the factory software. has it done it with others. i can not say. as most software for some reason doesnt like this grabber.. heres m92 . my 1st cluster. not to bad ... tons to go tho lol .. untouched yet.

Phil, just a tip mate, you are changing the sens-up times too fast and the camera can't keep up.
When you change from x256 to x128 as an example, leave it for about a minute to settle down, then you can change it again to another setting. Each time you change anything let the camera catch up. That doesn't mean that if you wan to go from x512 all the way down to x64 that you have to stp and wait at each sens-up (x256 then x128 then x64). I mean go all the way down to x64 if you want to, then wait, and allow the cameras programming to catch up. The camera needs to see what it is seeing then make some internal adjustments of its own to match the new incoming signal.
With my Sammy 4000 Ex-View it can take up to 2 minutes for the live view to look its best after being changed up to x512, but only about 40 seconds or so to settle after going to x128.

That's the one I used to use for my Sammy 4000 The bloke who wrote that program for Steve Massey's Gstar-ex brand cameras is a friend of mine. We used to hound him to keep adding features It works very well for a basic Video Capture Program.

I wonder if your green band across the bottom is caused by your Video Grabber. I remember others suffering it but I can't remember how they fixed it or what the cause was.

Just remember phil, its not a race to see how many dso's you can see in a session, but more like how well you can see them.
Its not uncommon to see the guys on NSN spend an hour or more on each object to see how much detail they can extract before they take a snapshot.

for sure allen.. thats one of my issues... i need to slow down more..i went from 6th gear to 3rd last nite. now i got to hit granny gear. lol i went after 5 things last nite. 2 galaxys , the dumbbell. 2 clusters. iam still tryin to figure out plan for tonite.. i love the dumbbell i got. thinking of the c8 on it. or just the 80 with no reducer. but then i have to run the diagonal. maybe ill do that the 80 with the diagonal. and use the c8 for visual while the 80 is capturing.. maybe hit it with 250 frames at x128 then 250 at x256 in gstar.. i noticed 500 or more i get field rotation and stair stepping from the tracking.. not a big deal for now. sold my wedge. grrrrrr ..... will have to make new one. lol the files are in the 400meg range lol.. facebook doesnt like it to much lol .. ill give a go and see.. phil edit: here is the raw video.. the dumbbell.. www.facebook.com/video.php?v=802185233165792&l=8493498583358782744
