M31 is a tough customer with any video cam. Its about 3.5 times bigger than the moon and needs a wide fov to get it all in, but the core is so bright it blows out before you can get anything else. Try something easier like M51.

Dustbunnies on the sensor most likely, but could be on the FR. These miniscule specks of dust often show up as black marks or donuts on the images. To find out where they are, take an image, then rotate the FR a few degrees, take another image. If the dust spots stay in the same position they are on the sensor, if they rotate then they are on the FR. Only solution is to clean the optical train or sensor.

will was goin to test again tonite for them black marks. in the photos. and sure enough . mom nature says mmm no... next few days on burner also ..
iam not sure but as i sit and look at the photo i have a tought. if i read right. each pixel has 4 lil sq's. rgb and g again or what have you.. the scope got hit hard enough i didnt realign. it is a newt. iam thinking it might been that. i noticed 3 center dots in the sun image above.. so iam thinking it might be a blur type hot pixel. i could be 100% wrong or not even on the right boat. i notice also this is rougly same area i been having hot pix's . i collmated the scope to see. it was way off.
so few days i hope i find it gone lol ..

Good first attempts mate! And LOL at the scope out the window! That's funny! Regarding the black spots / diamonds on your m31 image... I'm pretty sure it's not dust!! I get them on my samsung too! BUT only when I turn on sharpness setting!! Dunno what they are... Dead pixels maybe? All I know is I get them too and when sharpness is turned off they disappear Give it a try!

i added this lm 317 t voltage regulator for the fans. i read wrong volts on the 1st one.. and will as she held up for a hour. poof it went at 12 volts. as it was a 5 volt fan lol .. spon fast tho lol ....

seems to be the sharp on and off .... this is just cam no lens. held it flat on my desk. seems it might be dead pix? they show in the same place all the time i think .. if so i sort of got a junker? as you see with sharp off. there still white dots. so thats what got me thinking dead pixs sharp on sharp off

Although not the same scope, I opted for the Orion 80 EDT CF for wider field views. I went for the true APO triplet to help with Chromatic Aberration. I went with carbon fiber because it matched my Mallincam VRC8, heh. I got it used for $500-$600 US about 5 months ago. I really like it for astrovideo and can't wait to do some astrophotography.
