hey wiseguy lol funny you say that.. i have a trash dispole on the kitchen sink. it burnt up few months ago.. just not got around to placein to a normal drain lol ... i was at hardware store today gettin the stuff for this.. and looked rite at the L pipe to go from sink to the T lol .. did i get it nooooo .... lol hey this is what i got of m31.. lol ok ok ok .. i goin to sell one of my cars and my big dob. to get a 80 or 120mm refactor.. lol but i have to say this isnt to darn bad for this setup.. i did run it thur a online editor. darken it a bit. still to much lite bubble. so i have to go high on the expo. but was far less then the newt.. this is so much fun.... i do have to tune it up tho... i can not get points yet on stars. it is off center a lil.. i get comet like stars sometimes.. not a big thing... its tweak n tune time is all lol ..

Phil, great effort! You will find that the 'comets' are caused by a slightly out-of-alignment imaging train. It is giving the same result as a telescope that is out of collimation.
My guess would be that when you cut the PVC it wasn't cut exactly square. It would only need to be the tiniest bit out and it will cause those optical problems. About the only way to cut a pipe perfectly square is in a lathe or some device you can make to have the pipe spinning when you cut it.
Also make sure that the optical path is perfectly in line in the perpendicular. If the camera lens is slightly off centre it can also cause minor optical effects.

Looks promising Phil. There is a lot of light being collected around the M42 area. Once you get the lens working good it seems like you will get DSO's to show up nicely

Williams Optics scopes are known to be of high quality. I'd happily pay $500 for a used one. One sold here in Australia for $875 used. The 545mm focal length is great, and will give magic views with a Focal Reducer! About the FOV I would like. I have no idea what that lady is on about in her review at the bottom of the page Since when do Refractors have a Mirror lock? They don't even have Mirrors!!! Maybe she means the Focus lock.

thats about what there asking for it.. mmmmm not sure yet.. something telling me 100mm to 120mm or the triplet. here is image from last nite from a bit darker spot.. still in bubble tho.. this is the dumbbell.. i cant belive for what i used i got even close to this. was a 135mm ..i think or the 50mm lens. thought i marked them lol .. i dont even see this in my 12" dob. lol just nuts lol
and one more ... this was the 135.. can see the new adpt i made. works much much better. still getttin like defraction spikes like. but iam sure its still alingment issues.

Phil, it depends on how much you want to spend. 100mm to 120mm will cost a hell of a lot more. Not just a little bit more. And they will have much longer focal lengths, and focal length is the main number to consider in Video Astronomy. The shorter the focal length the better, regardless of aperture or focal ratio. That is why almost all Video Astronomers stress the use of a Focal Reducer. They mathematically shorten the Focal length. An ideal Telescope would be 500 - 600mm focal length and 10" - 12" aperture Hyperstar comes to mind

there is a 12" refactor for sale on a site. CN. grrr... they want $600.000.00 mmmmmm lets see here.. if i save my milk money. dont feed the animals. or kid. dont get no food. sell the house. lol
for sure Dman.. iam learning with the cam lens. i couldnt wrap my head around the idea of this. with the smaller FL and apture. and what you could see. but as i see it unfold with just the cam lens. its comming to me.. its hard to figure out.. in the fact. when i got the big dob. what make what do i want with it. so on. you all know..
now on a forsale site. craigslist here in states. someone selling a older c8 with the wedge and tripod for peanuts. and i meen peanuts like throw 6 of your friends a banger n beer party. that cheap.. so there is another thing.. grrrrrr...
i think i might be pushing towards the ES 102 doublet. for the price 500 bucks . and now as i learn. iam thinking the cam is on the end of its rope. iam tryin to over drive it a bit. so. that meens another cam also another 300 bucks. lol
but last nite with the 35mm lens. the WFOV was awsome for like star partys.
lol fun fun ...
