Karl, I broadcasted the moon on Sat night. It was actually really good considering the boiling skies from bad seeing. The details and sharpness were incredible. I did not capture any images because every time I would try, it would just catch a bad frame. Could not get a snap that captured the detail I was seeing between ripples of boiling skies. I was fighting drift the whole time, com to find out my scope only tracks in sidereal, not lunar, so that explains my drift. I guess I will just have to live with it! But now my DSC on my scope took a crap, so my dob is down for at least a week till I get the new one from Australia! Doubt it will be here in time for the solar eclipse on the 15th

Jack said if it's clear tomorrow he'll do the Moon with the Signature so fingers crossed on that one. Sounding good so far Lee well done and sounds like it will be amazing with good seeing!!! Once I know the best cam for the job I'm going to order it.

I'm gonna give it another go tonight with the HD cam. I will see how it goes, if I have bad seeing again, I'm ripping it out and trying DSO's with the HA filter. We will see

No luck with HD cam. Its not the cam but my scope. My dob is down while I wait for a new DSC from Australia. So I tried with my VRC. Turns out my VRC is so out of collimation that I could not get sharp focus on the moon or anything for that matter. So HD cam or no HD cam it was a blurry mess.
So first thing first I need to get this scope collimated correctly then I will try again.

Just a word of warning to anyone thinking of using any Orion camera for NSN. Jim has BANNED all broadcasts using ORION cameras.
Buying one for personal use is fine, but do not attempt to broadcast on the NSN channel. You may find yourself banned as well.

I don't know too much about coax leads, but you can get CCTV cameras that run from your computer via a USB port. I bought one on EBay, quite cheap, and it came with a 10 Meter extension Lead with a USB Booster. After 5 meters a USB extension loses power which is why you need the booster. Anyway according to the gaff that came with it you can run upto 4 cameras in HD mode without loss of power. Nifty software as-well. I use it simply as a CCTV camera covering my side garden so I haven't done any astro work with it. Perhaps one of these would be better suited to converting for Astro' use Cheers Pete. EDIT::: Sorry this was in answer to the original question.

Looks great Karl! Is that the same cam used in both videos but just a different grabber?

Hello All,
I did a quick comparison last night to see the difference between the HD SDI and normal analogue and the winner is pretty clear: First image is the Sammy captured with the dazzle and the second is the HD SDI captured with the new Febon188 USB UVC SDI Grabber Card from Taiwan.
Now all I need is some clear weather to try the thing out!
Edit: I used the same lens and settings on both cameras.
