A good read Harry. Kangaroos and Wallabies like the cold weather so they would do well in the UK. It's only the huge 'Red Kangaroo' that doesn't like cold. And they are dangerous. Wallabies are pretty safe to catch. Grey Kangaroos are a mix. Some are friendly, others want to kick the **** out of you media.giphy.com/media/Ddz0zMHIlBIg8/giphy.gif

There is another oddball species in the UK: - Chinese Water Deer - I was in a nature reserve south of Norwich in eastern England when I came face to face with one. They have a strange head that looks like a teddy bear. It didn't hang around long enough for a photograph! Seen on the Wheatfen nature reserve, it's tidal so I try and time my visit at low tide. wheatfen.org/explore/I was so impressed by this nature reserve that I became a member. It is one of the best balances between access and habitat I have seen.

My collection of Aussie hats From left to right (1) Akubra Snowy River, a scruffy one I bought from a charity shop which I use for gardening and walking the dog. (2) Akubra Snowy River this one is lined, bought it off Ebay and when it arrived it was better than the pictures. Hardly dare wear it as I do not have a good track record with light coloured clothing getting stained/marked. The one on the right is from GB hats made of calf leather, took some breaking in, good to put in the van in summer and it doesn't squash easily like the Akubra hats. Looks warm in the picture but it went down to 3 degrees last night. For a dry warm coat I use these from Scottish company Keela. I have been wearing them for over 20 years now. keelaoutdoors.com/

I bought a woodturning lathe 15 months ago and have mainly made bowls and boxes, donated some of my practice pieces to charity. I have found a bandsaw to be useful with the lathe, make the piece more round before turning, and reduces chisel wear. A also made this sanding attachment for my lathe. Bowls and a box Look forward to seeing more of your creations Davy. When you do use the Seestar you will find it wants to do updates, and also the tablet/phone you want to use it with. You can do the updates anytime, I fire mine up indoors and get it to do the updates and some practice with the app. It is very frustrating if they both want to update and the clear sky window isn't very long. Just play with it.

That is a native Red Squirrel Ken, it is restricted to mainly northern areas. An introduced Grey squirrel has forced it out of many areas, it also carries a squirrel pox which does not affect the Greys but kills off the Red squirrel. I've had to change my wild bird feeders to stop the Grey squirrels knocking off the feeders on to the floor. They are a big pest, a bit like kangaroos!
