Bit of testing tonight,, during today,, getting familiar with both bits of software K stars/ekos,, oacapture,,, so,, got the zwo 178 fitted up with a Canon 200mm fd lens via adapter and focused on furthest away point, Waiting on the moon,, 😁 Clear sky apart from scattered clouds,, K stars,, on lowest exposure setting, was still washed out image,, dslr,, iso 100,, shutter speed I would say 250th sec,, moon filter mde no difference,, end cp on and center removed,, still over exposed,, Av mode.. Switched to AP,, no difference,, the noise level in images was horrible,, need to check and see what others get,, ed80 scope. ZWO 178mc, and fd 209mm zoom lens in oacapture,, hundred times better could pull exposure right down till I got details on the moon,,,, managed to find out why it would not record,, was on avi mode,, changed to mov,, only problem,, it drops more frames than it captures,, ,, step in right direction,, still not there for video astronomy the way I like it. Hopefully firecapture may be better, 😜

Idiots. Stash,, respect the work your family is doing,, forget about the forum,, family first mate,, give your Mrs all our love,, you both will be worried sick,, As a father and grand father,, it scares the shit out of me,, Yes davy ... my doctor gave me the drum nearly 4 weeks ago about risks and staying home. Up to then I was thinking it was a total over reaction like Y2K. Back in 2017 was the first time I ever got a flu shot because the flu was BIG that year. In the end over 1200 died just in Australia alone from flu. Even more in Europe and UK. But life was normal. No shutdown etc. So 4 weeks ago Aussie deaths were like 6 people. Hence my thoughts of it as total Y2K overreaction ... until I chanced being in the queue at shops when my Doc came up behind me and we chatted. He said I was totally wrong. The medical stats from China and Italy (which had just gotten as bad as China was) showed that compared to the flu it was (a) twice as easy to catch; (b) if you caught it you were 20 times more likely to have it bad enough to have to go to the hospital; and (c) if you were over 60 (like me) you have a 1 in 20 chance of dying from it. Scared the s**t out of me. I have done all the right things since then! And just today some broadcast I saw on the TV while eating breakfast said now 75,000 dead worldwide and the stats were under 20 years old chance of death so far works out to be 0.6%, while over 60 chance is 6.6% which works out to be 1 in 16 chance of death if you catch it when over 60. I'm staying isolated. Especially as most cases in my State are around the Brisbane, Gold Coast region where I live. Stay safe everyone.

Howie, information about live stacking is very sparse. I tried an autorun inside tonight with a darkened room . I did an autorun of 30 x 0.5 sec exposures and just presume that the image I am seeing on the ipad is a stacked view, but I am not sure. Noise did not noticably change. There are no instructions from the gurus on CN. There is the claim on the zwo site that there is live stacking available but there is no information. The screen shots change to Chinese for live stacking and so I am not certain about the settings. I am still not sure cheers Paul Paul, use your phone to take a photo of the stacking screen on the ipad and post it up please. If the stacking screen is like the Asi Studio software from ZWO then I have used that doing live astro and may be able to help? BTW I'll give a plug for ZWO because I really like ASI Studio especially as they have a version of it for iOS Mac. cheers Howie

FYI - there is a problem on RPI4 and USB3/Wireless comms - 5ghz wireless doesn't cause a problem but 2.4ghz does - USB3 makes wireless drop connections randomly. Something about the layout and chips causing RF interference.
Also on DSLR's if you need to go below .1 exposure you may have to switch off "Bulb" in the Indi Settings for the DSLR - not all DSLR (mine was Canon 100d) are effected but you will notice that taken 2 or 3 exposures one after the other is slightly more or less exposed - Software not accurate so switching off Bulb reverts to Camera's available list of exposure settings. Above .1 should have no problems especially on x secs long exposures.
:-)
At least England cant get thrashed at cricket this year - doubt there will be any games :-)

He is interested in the raspberry pi for astronomy so we may get a bit of a following,, more work for you stash lol,, said you had wealth of knowledge on the subject,, I was messaging radek couple of nights ago and,, kinda went over the head,, was about cdc,, needing to get profile from indi Web server or cdc stays in simulator mode,, 😜😜😜😜😜 OK stash over to you obi1

OK for CDC to work via Indi (Planetarium s/w not CCDCIEL) an Indi Proflle must be up and running or started via the Indi Settings GUI on CDC. What I think Radek was saying was if you start the Astroberry Web Browser then on the left hand side you can create or use an existing Astroberry Profile ( a confusing issue is that , last time checked Astroberry doesn't share profiles with Ekos 0 there is more but too confusing IMO). As you have found out using Ekos/Indi Settings etc a profile contains your set up you want to use - e.g. Mount,Camera etc). Now until the Profile actual loads AND STARTS AND CONNECTS to the hardware nothing will really work (another confusing thing is that you can Auto start,Manually start and Auto Connect etc by ticking box's). With Astroberry using the Web Browser approach you see the "profile Control" on the left hand side and you can make it appear/disappear by clicking the little tab. On this "Panel" (thats the wonderful phrase they use) you will see little icons each have a job to do - There should be one that looks like a telescope - this is Indi Web Manager (astroberry version) NOTE ! On my version it says "Server Status" - "server is offline" so I need to click the START button just above "Server Status" to load and start the INDISERVER with the profile chosen - mine is synscandslr, Important make sure the hardware is switch on and connected BEFORE doing the "START" Afer clicking "Start" the "server Status" should change to "Server is online" - this means profile is loaded but it doesn't mean its all connected and running. I will leave out so other bits for now. IndiServer is now loaded and running on the RPI. Now connect to the RPI using NOVNC - this is the REALVNC equiv via a web browser - they compliment each other IMHO Part 2 to follow :-)

PART 2 Connecting CDC to Indiserver and so your MOUNT Hopefully you now have CDC up and running - so assuming that do the following:- 1. Click on he Telescope menu at the top of CDC and a drop down menu should appear 2. Select Telescope settings and a new window should appear - make sure the box's are check and press apply / OK 3. Telescope menu and select Indi Conrol panel Another window will appear as below 4. Now I need to "connect" the hardware to Indiserver by clicking on "Connect" and hopefully you should get something like this - repeat for each bit of hardware - just try simple profile to start with.:-) If all ok we have no connected Indiserver to the hardware and it should be running. Just need to get CDC to connect to Indiserver 5.Click Telescope menu again and select "Connect Telescope" this window should appear 6. If the Telescope Name is not the one you selected in the Profile click "GET" and the one defined and connected should appear in the box like this Follow the info below Thats it CDC is now connected to your Mount - you are now free to Start up CDCIEL and connect to the Mount and Camera !!!!! I will stick around for next 10 mins in case you are online and need to ask ?'s Stash

Found a new raspberry pi 4 4gb for £43, could not pass up on this, why, when I'm just getting into raspberry pi,, dead easy,, I believe this is the way forward in astronomy, others see the great potential, of using zwo asiair pro, I have some ideas I want to run with so a second and even a third are going to be needed,, this one will let me prototype without disrupting the kit I have got just now.. What I want to do is get a easycap USB video grabber linked to the raspberry and a watec 902h camera and get it up and running

I've Stopped Using VNC And Plugged In A Monitor In Case It Had Something To Do With VNC,, nada,, no difference,, thought I was going more nuts with this. Haven't a clue,, went on astroberry server and can see what it is and where it is,, but I can't see any pop out on left hand side. No Wonder This Has Been Testing Me.. downloading a new image,, going to take a while 😬

Hi Davy ,
I presume you get the first screen - "welcome to Astroberry etc" and with "START" button
A screen print would help me - its hard to imagine problems - I create enough of my own without imagination :-)
