Here is the ASIair pro on the EQ35M and Esprit 80. It is a grab and go system, but as I have said, I have no-where to go. Until the software can live stack ,for VA ,there is no clear advantage over the original ASIair on the Pi 3 in my mind. The Astroberry is a great system, but it is very much a stay at home with a big screen, mouse and keyboard. cheers Paul

I looked at all the tech baffle between the rpi3 and the rpi4, outwith astronomy capabilities and the pi4 is like a race car compared to a pedal bike,, I must admit,, before I actually stuck it in the scope I found it was faster browsing the Web than any windows computer,, Did the asiair Pro not get the stacking feature they promised everyone,, if that's the case what a bummer,, this to me would have been the selling feature of the asiair Pro.

Scope all set up for more testing,, clouded out,, but lessons learned,, The Philips spc9000 webcam isn't supported in k stars and if like me, have few dslrs,, then k s stars only loads one in to a profile,, tried one as main ccd and one as a guide camera,, ,, oacapture doesn't allow the Canon 600d to connect,, But pretty happy learning what the software can and can't do,, Have plenty of gear and lots of ways to do astronomy,, and having fun with astroberry,, still plenty of avenues to go down with raspberry pi and astronomy.. My scope set up with raspberry I annd astroberry,, laptop control of mount and camera,, swap transformer for a battery pack and scope is stand alone,, can sit in car and operate, lots of time to be ready for next season of dark skies

My humble apologies everyone including ZWO . Howie,it appears you are right. I received my pro a couple of weeks ago but didnt take it out of the box until yesterday thinking live stacking was not available. I have only pointed it at trees so far as the weather over the w/e was terrible I have dropped my guard over the last couple of weeks concentrating on other things. Things are looking like they might not be busy at work so I will get onto the ASIair Pro cheers Paul

It is hard to get any information on the live stacking. I will configure the schedule and do an autorun next chance I get and see if live stacking happens. Because I was not interested in autorun and saving for post processing ,I have only been doing previews of single frames which was appropriate for VA on the First Gen ASIair . Autorun was really for the astrophotographers on First Gen ASIair. It appears autorun is what I need to do live stacking.
cheers Paul

Paul, can't wait to hear how it goes.
I've got the old pi3 usb2 non stacking version working fine ... except I'm in a townhouse complex and there's someone in the complex who's been reporting to the authorities anyone who's not obeying the social corona rules. I understand the rules and get the need to stop interactions for my old (at risk) age group catching it and loading the health system down treating me. So I understand whoever it is dobbing folks in. But it means if I go outside to setup and whoever it is see's my scope runnning out there and dobs me in, I reckon it would not be considered by the police that's I've been going outside for any of the permitted things - exercise, groceries, medications, doctor, fuel. And the on the spot fine is $1345 for disobedience of the rules. Ouch ... that's a good second hand NEQ6 or new ASI294 cooled. So I guess I will sit tight.
Just thought ... maybe I could try davy's trick setting up in the upstairs bedroom pointing out the window? Wish during the reno that I'd gone ahead with building the attic sliding roof tile OBS! LOL
cheers and good health to all. howie

I feel for people living in apartments or complexes. I live on a decent size block and can sit outside . Astronomy is a great home hobby during these times. I will get on to the pro when the weather improves. keep well everyone. cheers Paul

Same Situation for me,, living in flat,, and it's a bit of a crime hot spot and head cases,, but rent is cheap and I'm no exactly pussy cat material 😀,, but astronomy would be impossible,, so limited fov from flat and the police are doing the rounds,, being honest I'm sticking to lock down rules,, I will need to go out for grub in a few days,, running low,, just hope folk are seeing sense on shopping now,

Howie, information about live stacking is very sparse. I tried an autorun inside tonight with a darkened room . I did an autorun of 30 x 0.5 sec exposures and just presume that the image I am seeing on the ipad is a stacked view, but I am not sure. Noise did not noticably change. There are no instructions from the gurus on CN. There is the claim on the zwo site that there is live stacking available but there is no information. The screen shots change to Chinese for live stacking and so I am not certain about the settings. I am still not sure cheers Paul

Ken, if you were outside, your neighbours would need a telescope to see you cheers Paul LOL!!! They sure would Paul I spent all day outside building a fence (well, I made a start) with my son, so my granddaughter has a fenced back yard now she is old enough to run around outside. The fence will probably take a few days, and then I have about 1 ton of gravels I brought home from the bush to prospect at my dam. It's good gold bearing gravels. And because the clubroom and observatory is in my back paddock I have astronomy to do at night. So I have plenty to do and lots of space to do it all in. But I too feel very sad for those people stuck in tiny apartments, high rise buildings etc. Especially people with kids! Strange times indeed.

It's like something out of a movie,, and,, if you were watching the movie,, seeing folk walk about and basically don't give monkeys about everyone else,, In the movie it usually all works out in the end,, the dead are all actors and can go home at night,, the world has lost thousands of real people,, there not coming home tonight,, there won't be any hospital visits,, last farewells,, funerals to say goodbye. Stick with the lock down,, hopefully its weeks before you see family but you will if you stay in lock down. Stay safe it's the real deal

Sorry not looked for a while - a bit busy and depressed I guess. Both my 2 "kids" are in the fron line - girl sister on ICU/HDU ward so she is pretty busy - son in RAF and is doing something connect with the "Bug". MRs S worried as number of nurses/doctors die even though daughter says she is ok but knackered!
Anyways any problems fire way.
Just a note to add been testing Chrome browser and "cast" feature in Chome on RPI 3B+ (so not as powerful(memory/comms better - rest same) as RPI4 - Casting for those that haven't used it allows your current screen where the chrome browser is to send the screen image to a TV or other "cast" compliant device (chromecast devices). This works very simply on RPI Raspbian with Chrome Web Browser (running on RPI bu could be any where) and although there is a time lag the picture is of high quality (well on my Sony TV). Note Sony is connected via Wired not Wireless so cant say what he lag is like via Wireless.
So if you have an HDMI monitor you could add a Chromecast device (ultra best for HD 4k) to the monitor and then you will get a picture sent (whole of RPI screen) to the monitor- NOTE I have tried only my Sony TV which is Android with Chrome cast inbuilt but intend to try a chromecast device soon. Only problem is power :-)
I will still stick to my Remote laptop VNC type set up but thought it might be useful to others !
I will drop in more regularly as things are a bit quieter on "the home" front :-)
Keep safe all and Stay at Home PLEASE !

P.S. Dustin Hoffman did a very close to C19 virus film in 1995 - called "Outbreak" - except it was Ebola type nasty :-)
