Board built up as far as I can go for now. I downloaded the software from www.arduino.cc and installed ok. Downloaded the app to my phone ok Followed the instructions from my book ,opened up control panel and then device manager,, I found the instructions on the book said there may bits to change but it all seemed ok the arduino software was never than the books,, so I then opened the arduino software and went to tools and checked com ports were the same and then selected nano on the board selection.. Copied and pasted in the code from the website Connected the arduino Uno to laptop and went to sketch and clicked verify/compile a then upload,, led on arduino started flashing so I believe it's all there. Famous last words,, can't be this easy ,,,so far

bought a 5mw laser to mount on the pan and tilt ..decided to use my watec 902h camera and a lens...as most know this is a small but its a very very sensitive camera and being mono it should show up some good detail.... I hope... all down to getting the pan and tilt and testing now.. before I can take it up a level to bigger pan and tilt ect

That pan and tilt doesn't look too bad. The sketch compiled with no errors ? You're halfway there. If you open the serial monitor under tools it should be spitting out numbers of where is supposed to pan and tilt

problems kicking in,, the app I downloaded to my phone was the wrong one..but I did type in the correct app in google play..it was the firt app on the video...I installed it but when I came to testing ,,it wasn't correct.
I typed in senoduino in google and it came up and I clicked to install from google play.... bummer... wont download to my android version..5,,, I could download it to my tablet ,,it has version 4.4.4 unfortunately it has no accelarometers.. not my day..

I ran the sensoduino android and arduino apps the other night with a spare bluetooth/arduino I have. The arduino app will need a bit a of re-write if you want it to point where the phone is pointing. - It uses tilt from the phone to set the pan/tilt ALT - thats good. - but it uses camera roll (or pitch?) to set the pan/tilt AZ - works fine but not so good for pointing where you want to look.
The other bummer is that I was thinking of using the android app plus the android app from zwo to also view on the phone. Problem is the sensoduino app stops spitting out coordinates when you switch to another app on the phone. That'll need a rewrite.

Hi Chris, Few updates myself The sensoduino won't run on my phone, don't know if it's the sensors are compatible or the version of android is supported, Version 5 I have version 4 on my Acer tablet and I can install the app, unfortunately it has no acceleration sensors. I'm waiting on my daughter looking out my S3 Samsung phone I gave her a loan of..
My pan and tilt came yesterday and the laser
So just waiting on my daughter finding the phone
I see arduino has an accelerometer board so it may be a hack to the problem you came across, fitting it to the vr goggles.
I found another project that may interest us if this gets unworkable.

So you might see where I'm coming from with this one lol
The chap learns the unit to identify the object to track... Question 😀 Could we get it to track the moon ect
Yip,, I'm thinking out the box again

That's great motion tracking that bloke has gotten going! Good find davy. Certainly looks like that snippet of code he has would enable tracking of any object you lassoo'd so most likely would track stars n stuff.

Still waiting on my daughter findingy old phone,😂 probably broke it and tossed it away,, she has had more phones than I've had hot dinner's ,, lol.
It's great you have got it running and tested,, it's a good start at getting arduino into the forum. Can you do a review on it to let folk know pros and cons of the project

This bis the 1sheeld board , it may be the better option for controlling the pan and tilt

I've shown interest in a eq mount for arduino project,, it has a clock drive motor on Ra, so hopefully chap will get back to me,, this will be a start point for adapting arduino projects into Astronomy.. my arduino kit came today ,, looking good 😀

This is the mount I bought last night for the project, £43 from sgl classifieds section. Just need to check motion control shaft size for size. In the arduino kit I bought there is a five volt stepper motor that I can try on it and this will give me an indication of size of motors I require for the mount
