Thought I would start the project in a new thread and keep it to the build. Will still use original thread for ideas ect

Pan and tilt
So there was no way the pan and tilt in the video was going to our needs. So in Scotland we use the term CLYDE BUILT And I have just ordered four linear bearing blocks that will hold 8mm rod. Ordered 300mm of 8mm od rod So this will be the basis of build. Will order flat bar alloy when I work out a fork design for the pan and tilt.

I'll sign up to help. I've built a few arduino projects - starting with a slot car lap counter for my son yonks ago to a more recent dew heater.

Think I'm doing very well cost wise 😀 if it can be built for approximately £70 I think it's a good project. Something to get folk interested by looks of things,,

The linear bearing arrived today, no sign of my resistors yet, will just go to maplins if they don't come tomorrow,, would give me chance to look at arduino project books they sell.

Unfortunately ,i dont know yet went through a load of ideas in my head, Bit of a choke point for me. I have a 300mm length of 8mm acrylic rod coming ,easy to cut ect to template. Options Do I go with high torque servos. Pro,s. Quick and I can keep to original video Against. Very twitchy and not very stable and will not be upgradable Stepper motor. Pros. Heavy duty , can get 2 for £18, can get timing belt gears kit to drive mount £20 per axis Against. Project costs going up would need a h drive board,, more coding and changed coding. I can get a couple of electric Window winder motors for the work Pro, cost nothing,, would let me test kit, high torque, Pan and tilt frame will be a fork type, how deep the fork ,, Initially I wanted just to run a DSLR or a Samsung on it,, but if going to get stepper motors ect I thought ,, go bigger and hold a small refractor

Got the last of the resistors today and the last load of jumper cables, So electronic wise I'm good to go
To keep the momentum going I just bit the bullet and bought the complete pan and tilt unit in the video
This allows me to work on the interface and come up with a alt az homebrew mount
