Getting really close to being finished woo-hoooo!! Yesterday we did more Insulating of the interior walls and putting more wall sheets up, and the electrics for the second desk is almost completed: And there is an old saying that says: "Build it and they will come"Well, we are so close to finishing the 'Build', and here they come A group of 23 visitors turned up while we were working They still received the full tour of the Observatory, how it operates (they were amazed at the roll-away shed), and the usual talk and display of telescopes etc. They were a really nice bunch of people Then after they left it was back to work

How far away do people come to visit? This group came from Ballarat, Rick. That is only 20 miles away. But our own club members mainly come from Melbourne, about 100+ miles away. Most of our visitors also come up from Melbourne.

Wow, that is awesome! I assume you see almost none of Melbourne's light dome.

No Rick, it's too far away. And it's also blocked by the mountains about half way between here and there. Here's a light pollution photo showing Melbourne and here at Snake Valley:

UPDATE: 29th August 2016I haven't posted any updates for a while so it's time to show what's been done between constant days of rain. We have had rain almost every day, but we managed 2 days of better weather so it was a mad rush to get more done because the forecast for the next 7 days is more rain Here's the shelves I built: Locating the brackets Testing shape and size of shelves Making shelves Painting shelves Shelves fittedNow to get stuck into finishing the insulation and MDF panels on the back wall and ceiling: The wall panels are going to be attached directly onto the steel wall panels which was originally the outside wall of the Clubroom, but is now the inside wall of the Control room. The shape of the steel panels makes insulating hard: so I cut Foilboard into strips to fit between the raised bits that the MDF panels will be glued to: then glued them into the spaces: Then to the ceiling. To hold the Insulation Batts in place until we can get the ceiling panels up we hold them in place with string attached by Staple Gun: That's how you hold batts in place. This is how you hold the ceiling panels in place. With your head Making sure to remember to feed any electrical cables through now rather than wondering how to do it later: Nearly all done. A small bit left on the ceiling and the back wall to do, a coat of paint, and it will be finished Woo-hooooo! and just in time because bookings are starting to come in from groups already

Ken your project is looking good. I know the dilemma with the rain, West Texas is normally dry but we have had a abundance this year. No compliants we have been in a 10 year drought and this will replenish our lakes/drinking water supplies. We are looking at rain all this week also so I will work on power supply inside and dry in the house.
