Cheers Ken, If one of them glass type filters come up used I'll buy it to be on the safe side I just sold mine John. It would have fitted straight on the front of your ED80. If only you had bought the quark a month ago, I could have sorted you out no problem. :-(

I don't know who sells the erf I had anymore. The erf was part of a pst modded ed80 that I had. I don't think it is made anymore, but the erf might still be found somewhere. Mine was what was called a C-erf, (C for cool)and was red glass. I sold mine cheap for £125.

When Daystar designed the Quark, I think they just intended it for use on small refractors of 80mm and under so a front erf would not be needed. If you don't have a big frac its not an issue as a IR/UV filter will suffice. Unless you intend getting a larger frac John, I would not worry about it. Just enjoy using it on the 80mm.

Had a go with it today, not very good, in out of the clouds every couple of minutes. BUT one very important lesson I learnt was ''REMOVE THE BLOODY DUST CAP OFF FIRST''

Lol..dust cap left on...we would all be rich if we had a £/$ for every time we made that mistake.

What made it worse because of the sun was in and out of the clouds, I only had about 1 minute to play with it then had to wait around again for it to reappear so it was taking for ever just trying to sort out why I couldn't see anything, so I said sod it and packed up, only then when I removed the Quark did I realize that the dust cap was. Will have to wait for a proper clear day so there won't be any hold ups

The biggest time consuming was seeing what accessories works in line with it.
To get about a quarter disc the configuration was
scope + uv/ir filter + diagonal + Quark + .5 FR + camera
To get a full disc
scope + uv/ir filter + Quark + flip mirror + .5 FR + camera.... I'll have to play around with this again as the focus didn't seem sharp enough.
And the camera temp never went past 24 c, It was tracking for about 3 hrs and I was a bit concerned when it melt the dust cap the other day so I had a feel around the scope and diagonal and they were cold to touch.
I found that setting the tuning knob in the middle position was a fairly good compromise for showing surface detail and prominence's .
I've yet to look through it with a eye piece properly, All I got was a reflection of my eye lashes

Not bad for a first light John. When you find the right position for the tuning knob and get a bit of practice in with the Quark, it should all become easier. I'm not a fan of the FD, and I'm sure you can do much better when you find the best way of doing it. But its still a good first light.

I can only run it till about 5pm at about this time it goes behind the tree's
Today I tried a few different camera's, Samsung 2000P, Philips 900nc, Mallincam extreme, and each one gave different results. I can safely say the Philips webcam was a waste of time.
Samsung 2000p
Samsung 2000p
Mallincam Xtreme

Thanks everyone that popped onto the channel,
Thanks Ken for the grabs, I only took a couple Out of the four camera's I've tried I can safely ditch the Philips 900nc. The inova PLB-cx was a bit disappointing as this is 1.2mp camera @ 1280 x 960 didn't quite manage to get a sharp image but this is most likely down to me as this was the first camera I used, I'll have another bash with it to see I get a bit more out of it.
The Samsung 2000p seems to give a more uniformed colour and resolution and picked out the proms more better, it performed better than the Xtreme for proms
The mallincam extreme was way the best for surface detail
plus you have to take into consideration that I used different software for all the camera's, and some software are better than other's
Looks like I wont be out today skies are poor
