Lately, the clear skies are hiding... they will sneak out late at night or during the day on weekdays when I'm at work!
Yesterday, we had a bit of a hole where I could get the scope setup and get familiar with getting the mount to allow the sun, attaching and aligning the solar finder and securely affixing the white light solar filter. All of that in reverse order actually.
There was not enough time to get a broadcast setup and going before a big cloud bank would obscure Apollo and his Chariot. But my son and I did have enough time to visually check out the three active areas. I felt like a kid again looking through a telescope for the first time.
Sheesh!!
Tomorrow I'm taking off and I hope I can broadcast and mess about a bit more with focal lengths to get a closer peep at the sunspots.

That's great Rock. Lately I've been thinking, during the winter it's much warmer around here when the sun is out, so why not do some more white light solar with my iPhone.

That's my thought too Curtis! I already know that this is going to drive me toward a Ha solution. I'm thinking that piggy backing a Ha solar scope on my 80EDT with its white lite filter could give me some fun ability to flip between the two on broadcasts. For outreach, having two different monitors would really be educational!

I just try not to push too hard because I dont want them to end up hating it because Dad made them do it! Fortunately I have never had to force my boys to do anything. Sometimes I have to beat them off with a stick if I want to do something I like doing Everything I do, they like doing too. But they also have their own interests that I don't share. Skateboarding, Surfing, Rap Music etc So they can also be themselves as well as being like dear old dad. They are now 19 and 22, and one has left home, but we still enjoy doing stuff together as often as possible. My daughters, 24 and 27 don't share ANY of our interests Here's me and my boys in our band, 'Jam Sandwich' about 2 years ago

Never happened to me tho, hah! My son's just 10, so he's still figuring out what kinds of things he likes. I just struggle with keeping him off the video games! --Rick
