Ham radio call sign G7GLS and also had a American call sign KF6OZQ which is now expired due to not having a address in the US anymore, took the test over here in the UK at a military missile early warning ballistics base shared with the US which was used in the so called 'cold war' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_FylingdalesTrack days with my car. now i'm slowing down to on-line gaming and this. oh and going round the country watching motorsports 2 and 4 wheels

Phil, I tell you one thing I've noticed between the UK and US ham operators is that in the US cb and ham go side by side no discrimination. Here in the UK a lot of the hams look down at cb'ers as trash. i.e.. Truck or lorry, HGV in the UK, semi in the states. I had them both when I was on the road.
the heli is similar to a align 'century uk' model
since I moved into this house the other half won't let me put any antenna's up so all my radio gear is boxed up but my UK licence is still active just in case I can talk her round or get rid of her.

In my house I say that two people live in it 50/50, even though I bought it, you want your sewing room, cat house, chook pen etc, I have my HR & antennae, observatories, car ports garden sheds etc. The only rules that determine what I do on our property (5-acres) is the local council, then only if it is 'visible'. I know in the US there are all sorts of rules about what you cannot have in the backyard, that would piss me off big time as would the first item. Not trying to start a flame war here, but I think we have enough rules & regs without the family imposing any more. Maybe I will be banned from the group for being such an outspoken Yorkshireman??? I hope not. Regards, Shevill

Apart from Astronomy I am a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. I ride as often as possible, usually several times a week, rain hail or shine. Currently own a 1997 Harley Road King. I have been riding for 39 years.
I also do shooting. We are over-run by Foxes, rabbits, feral cats, feral pigs, razorbacks (wild Boar as big as a Bull), feral Goats, wild dogs and even the rare occasional panther. They are killing our native wildlife at an alarming rate! They kill our sheep, cattle and chooks, and damage crops. The 'Department of Environment and Sustainability' prefer as many rural people as possible control these pests as they are out of control.
I enjoy playing guitar. My two sons and I had a small band and enjoyed doing gigs. Now its just me sitting at home strumming away when it's too cloudy and wet to do Astronomy or go shooting.
I enjoy sketching but haven't actually done any for a few years now. I mostly like drawing portraits of my kids. I also like Graphic art and designing Logo's for people. I don't mind the occasional bit of signwriting either. I have done signwriting and Logo design for a few friends businesses.

I got my first telescope at the age of ten. About that time I started playing organized hockey and baseball. Shortly afterward got involved with swimming, gymnastics and boxing. I was involved with those activities and a few others all my life as a participant and as an organizer. At the age of fifty five I finally hung up my equipment and became a spectator but I didn't just sit down and waste away. I bought some property in an area where I have been going fishing with my family as long as I can remember. There's a photo around somewhere with me about five years old standing beside a Northern Pike, the fish is bigger than me. I started building a retirement home out here, woodworking was one of the other interests I developed over the years. I hired a contractor for the foundation but the rest was mainly done by me with the help of my son and a few of our friends. I even managed to build an observatory in my spare time. I can't even begin to think of what my interests have done for me over the years. They haven't given me much time to relax but I don't regret a moment of it. Here's a photo of the house I built. Not to brag about what I did but to say that anything I can do, you can do if you put your mind to it. Compared the house the observatory was a breeze to build but I don't think I will ever finish the observatory. There's always something to improve. The newest idea is a 4K graphics system for the Mallincam Universe. You can see a big improvement between 640 x 480 VGA and 1024 x 768 images. 4K will be a similar improvement. The Universe's full resolution 3032 X 2016 images will fit nicely on a 3840 x 2160 screen. No more bloated stars, I'll probably need a magnifying glass to see the dimmer ones. I may even have to revert back to using averted vision.

For many, many years I have played clarinet , concert flute & alto flute in various concert bands, even a guest 'black stick' player in a silver (brass) band. Played in hug flute orchestra's in Adelaide, on TV, in the Adelaide Festival Theatre, and more shopping malls that I can remember. I also played badly various other instruments for my own fun. Started playing guitar in a skiffle group in Germany during my RAF medics service, played sa & clarinet at hospital concerts and hospital/station dances etc. I grew up in the trad jazz era , so folks like late Monty Sunshine were my hero's.
Apart from astronomy and photography the list includes: Ultra-light flying, Stamp collecting, landscape painting in various mediums, drawing, etc. building & flying R/C aircraft right back from the valve radio set days, now into quad copters, tri-copters, helicopters, as well when I find some spare time to put them together. Before I got older I used to water ski, scuba dive, rock climb, 4x4 outback expeditions, sea kayaking,
Re-built a Mark2 Jaguar, which is my so called 'chick magnet' metallic silver grey with wire wheels red leather interior. plus a ton of other hobbies, electronics, machine shop work, building domes & telescopes the list is endless. Good thing we have a very big house on two levels with just two of us. My other half is also musical and she does music hall musical stuff, sings in choir/entertainment groups, gives concerts to all the local aged care facilities, breeds, Siamese cats, raises Brahma chooks, does artwork in material. small sample:picasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/RCSkyCamAircraft?authuser=0&feat=directlinkpicasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/AdultEdConcertBand1993?authuser=0&feat=directlinkpicasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/UltralightFlyingMachineThrusterT500?authuser=0&feat=directlinkpicasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/ConstructingA16InchNewtonianTelescope?authuser=0&feat=directlinkpicasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/Mark2Jaguar1966?authuser=0&feat=directlinkpicasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/AstroWorkshop?authuser=0&feat=directlinkLife is too short not to do stuff. I play the guitar and have been messing a bit with drums and synths. Would like to get into recording my own stuff.
I also founded a paranormal research team 8 years ago. We try to do scientific investigations of reports of paranormal activity. We debunk probably 98% of what is reported, claimed, or experienced -- but we have gathered a few interesting bits of evidence over the years.
I have a lot of other interests but don't have time to pursue them with any significant time.

Previous to that..in my own house I used to see shadows of people move about out the corner of my eye.. My gran was a jehovas witness and could tell me things that was going to happen in the future..have had a few visions myself that you say THAT W AS WIERED...

My gran was a jehovas witness and could tell me things that was going to happen in the future..have had a few visions myself that you say THAT W AS WIERED... That could be what we call a residual haunt. Residual haunts are a kind of "recording"... either something traumatic, or something that was repeated very very often. I have heard stories about people hearing and seeing figures walk up stairs... even stairs that are no longer there due to a remodel of the house. If its residual, it wouldn't be Carol's father's spirit, but just a recording from when he was alive. Residual haunts do not interact with their environment or people... its just a recording. That's the hypothesis, anyway. Certainly do not understand the mechanisms behind it because we cant get repeatibility to do a proper study. I like to write down or at least tell someone else vivid dreams I have had. I have had 2 times that I told someone about it, then had deja-vu, and then they remember what I told them. Freaky.

We use zero lux cameras that we setup and connect to a DVR to try to catch apparitions.
I think we have 4 bullet cams with Sony Super HAD II chips.
We also have 2 cameras that have dual-side cameras for day/night. I'll have to look those up.
We run the video signal thru shielded coax cable. Our longest run was over 1000 feet -- that was at a battlefield.
