So as to clear up some confusion and make sure people know about a rule change.
I don't have a clue who said DSLR cameras are not allowed on NSN. They have always been welcome on NSN. They are allowed on NSN along with the SSI camera. DSLR cameras have been used on NSN from the start.
The only type camera that was not allowed on NSN were long exposure CCD cameras and anything made by Orion telescope.
CCD camaers for long exposure photography has never been been allowed on NSN. It is not a new rule. Has always been there.
I have allowed some use of CCD cameras like the Universe and the SSI , but even they could be considered boarder line.
To make a few folks happy and some future ones CCD cameras are allowed now too, as long as they are doing live streams and not making people
wait for long periods of time for a single image. NSN is about live object viewing after all. The camera will have to be able to provide a live stream
of 24 fps and have the image up in less than 1 minute.
If the camera can do that fine. Does not matter how it does it software hardware. No matter so long as it can do it.Now if it is set to go longer like 4 or 5 minutes as a longer integration or exposure that too will be fine. We just can't have people waiting on a 30 minute exposure.
The whole point of not having CCD cameras on NSN was to keep imagers from using NSN as a chat room while they waited for 20 or 30 minutes for a image to appear.
There were a few who tried to use the site for just that reason. It was there personal chat room and nothing more while they waited on an exposure.
So there you have it or not have it which ever camera you have. Go at it.
