We had a small electrical fire in a neighbours house yesterday which somehow caused an electrical fault underground. The result of that was a 10hr blackout lasting from 4pm till 2am while the contractors dug the neighbourhood up trying to find it. The power cut only effected the area out front of my house and everything was pitch black. My only saving grace was my pesky streetlight that looks over my rear fence. Its so bright that every night is like a full moon in my garden. So the front of the house was black and the rear of the house was floodlit, so we all sat in the conservatory all evening where we could watch the torrential downpours in comfort. If it hadn't been for my pesky streetlight we would have spent the night in total darkness. Shame it wasn't a clear night as visual observing out at the front would have been a treat.
