Hi,
Just received an email with a tracking number to say that my new ZWO ASI120MC-S USB 3.0 version is on its way. Doomed now for a month of cloudy skies, sorry, to the folks down under!
Clear skies, Shevill

Clear skies, Shevill Shevill, never mind the folks down under because it's been raining here since you've ordered the new camera It will be interesting to see the differences between the usb 2 and 3 version, no doubt the data transfer and fps will be quicker on the 3 but also what other benifits it will have over the usb 2 version. waiting for clear skies John

Clear skies, Shevill Shevill, never mind the folks down under because it's been raining here since you've ordered the new camera >:D It will be interesting to see the differences between the usb 2 and 3 version, no doubt the data transfer and fps will be quicker on the 3 but also what other benifits it will have over the usb 2 version. waiting for clear skies :D John Hi John,
11 degrees C right now, snow down to 600 m overnight so we are heading into our winter next couple of months. The plus are the dark nights come early of course.
The only difference with the USB 3.0 should be the higher frame rate as long as the USB 3.0 on the PC does conform to the standard, not all are rated the same data throughput as I found when setting up my 1920x1080p HD-SDI video, where I am cranking through gigabytes per second not mere megabytes. The computer becomes the key factor, where SSD hard drives come into their own.
I build all my own PC's from standard parts to suit whatever application they are intended for. I have 10 at the moment, three in each obs. and four indoors in various places, plus three laptops, only one USB 3.0 laptop though, which will be an interesting test with the new camera.
Clear skies... Shevill

Ahhhh, so now I know who to blame for all this Rain, wind, storms, hail, sleet and freezing temperatures. Shevill But as you said Shevill, Winter comes with darker nights, and longer nights, and clearer skies (when the rains stop ) 3c here at the moment

The weather hasn't actually been too bad recently! Its just that there is never any darkness! Even at 2 - 3am half my view is still daylight! Bring on the winter!!
And nice one Shevill looking forward to seeing how you get on with the new cam!
