Hi everyone,
After life with the old 4.5" of over 40 years and its shortcomings an Orion XX14g is on the way....
The 2 Orion eyepieces come standard with the scope.
All the accessories coming with it are listed below but my big question is is there a need for a paracorr due to the scope having 1650mm focal length and a focal ratio of 4.6. I have fairly dark skies (when its stops raining and clouding over) but will at times be going to dark sky sites, star parties etc....
After speaking with Jack at Mallincam about video for a goto dob I am going to see how the Mallincam Pro Dob II works out.
Orion XX14g
Case & Shroud Set, 12v DC + Charger, AC Power Adapter, Stellar Seat, Glatter 2" Collimater, Glatter 2" tuBlug,
Orion Deepview 35mm 52deg AFOV
Orion Illuminated Crosshair plossl 12.5mm 40deg AFOV
TeleVue Panoptic 24mm 68deg AFOV
TeleVue Delos 8mm 72deg AFOV
ND96 Moon Filter (2"), ND96 Moon Filter1.25", Bintel OIII Filter (1.25")
Mallincam Pro Dob II video camera with 8" monitor
Anyones thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks skull

I can't answer the question Skull, but good luck with the new gear. Post a pic of the setup when you get it.

Will do Allan, I pick it up on Thursday then on Saturday I am going to a mate's place in the Hunter Valley who has great black skies. More importantly he bought a Meade LX850 14" ACF Cassegrain a couple of weeks ago and I went to his place then to do a first light but the weather killed us. On Saturday we are hopefully going to have a dual christening. Thanks skull

G'day Skull, thanks for the phone call mate.
As I said to you on the phone (repeated here for the interest of others who may want to know) a Parracor or any form of Field Flattener won't be necessary with your camera (Mallincam Dobcam) because of the small sensor size.
Any coma or vignetting will be way beyond the extremities of the sensor, therefore not affecting your view. Sensors in the 1/4", 1/3" and 1/2" range will all be fine.
If you step up to using a large format sensor like in a DSLR, a CCD Imaging camera or even a Mallincam Universe it would then be beneficial.

Hi Skull, you shouldn't need one. I have a XT10g that has a focal ratio of 4.7. I even use a focal reducer to get the focal ratio down to 3.2 and I don't have any issue with coma, but if i go any faster than 3 the coma becomes a issue.
Clear skies
