Well yesterday I received my Mallincam and I must say its a well built cam. I tried to use the software to connect but I feel something is miss. I first found that the usb adapter might have been the problem (not so sure) so I switched it out for my keyspan adapter and so far so good. Though, The Mallincam frame grabber (orange/black with a white circle and a green light I'm sure you understand what kind I'm talking about) disconnects. The grabber runs for about 2 min's then the light goes out. I'm at a loss. I posted this in the Mallincam group but I wanted to also post here to see if there are more answers that will help with a solution. I'm sure everything works fine I'm not so sure if I'm doing something wrong like I said it connects then looses connection after about 2 mins... Any if all help will be appreciated...

I've never heard of that happening John. Strange that it runs for 2 minutes before disconnecting. Hopefully Rock will be along with a suggestion.

I had a similar problem with one of my grabbers John. It would be working fine then suddenly lose the signal. Its a bit vague now, but I think it was the connection at the grabber, and if I moved the cables it would lose the signal. I think I had to hang it over a chair at just the right position, then not move it again. I sorted the problem by buying a new grabber and used a different cable, although with the Mallincam grabber you should not get this, but hey, stuff happens.

Tried different positions, a 7 port usb hub still disconnects after seconds. I also tried the other two ports with the LP. I'm beginning to think that I'll get another just having to wait grrrrrr

Well I did a complete re-install of my system after trying it out on my desktop (it gathers dust more than its being used) and it worked fine. I didn't have any other imaging realated drivers or other peripherals installed on that box. The cam worked and tested it out across the street things went well. So we'll see how it does the next time the cloud Gods want to behave. Yes blame this weather on me.. HA HA

Make sure your cable is good. The cable I got from Mallincam (video + power) died after 1 use, so I switched to SVideo.
Pretty ridiculous.
