Hi all,
I am going to build a pier for my EQ6 and control it from inside using my main computer. I need to run 50' cables (Mallincam Control, S-Video, Composite and Serial) to the mount. I will have an ac outlet at the pier for power. Will a 50' control cable to the Xtreme work or is it too long?
Thanks
Steve

Well Steve I'm not an owner of the mallincam but the video signal can be sent for over a far longer distance. Using cat5 and baluns over a Km without loss. As for the serial end I can't say.
Hope that's useful.

Thanks for the replies, I know the serial cable will work for the EQ6, just wasn't sure about the camera. I just need to add a 25' serial extension to the existing cable. I suspect it will work, but not 100% sure.

Hello Steve,
I have a Mallincam and I have an extension for the PC control cable as my set up is remote. The only issue I found was when using it with Miloslick but with the free software no issue at all. I have the cable that came with the camera plugged into a socket outside. This socket then runs to another socket in my office over about 30 metres of Cat 5e. In my office I have a 1 meter cable the runs from the socket to the PC.
Hope this helps

Steve, you'll be fine running your cables over a long distance. I run all my cables 75' Mallincam Control cable, Composite Video cable, Focuser cable, and EQ6 GoTo cable. S-Video cables are happy up to, and possibly over, 100 feet. Mallincam control cables work up to, an possibly beyond, 300 feet. You'll be OK USB is a different story.
