Having another go tonight and despite thin cloud I have the best view I can remember of Jupiter! I can see the red dot and still have the moons also! These are snap shots just taken in Milsoslick!

thats an excellent Jupiter Karl. And only a screen grab too. This really shows what the scb200 can do.

Forgot to mention, I have not yet removed the filter. I have two of these cams so I'll remove the filter from one and do some comparisons.

They look great man!! Ive tried a few times but haven't been able to get anything like this. Always just looks blurry and out of focus.
So you reckon the sammy is better than the mcx for planets?

Thanks All for the nice comments. I was gobsmacked when I saw the view I must admit! Need to some testing now over the next few nights to see if the view can be repeated, as live on NSN would be great. The only things I can think of that I did different to previous attempts is no Barlow and the filter was still in place. The conditions were not great either as it was hazy and lot's of thin cloud. Anyway at least I know now what is possible with the camera so let's see if we can better that still. If it is clear later or tomorrow I'll be on NSN.

I did try registax but the image did not look that much better to be honest though it was the first time I've tried so I'm not sure what I'm doing.

It took me a while to figure out registax. Keep messing with it and you'll figure it out. You'll be surprised about how much more detail you can pull out afterwards.

After seeing your pic above Karl it inspired me to have a wee blast at jupiter last night. First used the MCX and x2.5 barlow = okish view... No fine detail could be made out tho. Second was MCX and no barlow = okish view but too small to see any detail. Then i decided to try the sammy out with the x2.5 barlow = Best view by far. Could make out some fine detail and 3 moons were also visible. It gave a MUCH better view than the MCX!! So the SCB2000 that cost 1/20th the price of the MCX spanks it for viewing planets lol
Didnt take any screen grabs as none of the views were very good to be honest. Just cant seem to get sharp focus ever! But the scb won hands down!

Nice one Chris, Jupiter is a good one right now for detail that's for sure. I tried again myself the other night but I'm having mount issues so it was tricky. However, I tried several combinations, SCB-2000 with filter then without filter, then with Barlow and then again without. The best detail for sure was the cam with filter still in place and no Barlow.
Here is the video from the first attempt.
Regarding the comparison with the Mallincam, I had read before from someone who has two Mallincams and an SCB-2000 that in his opinion the SCB-2000 was much better for planets. That said the Mallincam is not designed for Planets and for DSOs there is no competition the Mallincam wins hands down. That said for some DSOs the SCB-2000 is fantastic such as M42, M82 and your NGC40 was the business! In a nutshell, for a newbie looking to get into VA the SCB-2000 simply Rocks!
If it is clear and I can get the mount to play ball I'll broadcast Jupiter later.
