Dragged out (Gold Mk.1) MAK150 w/Monorail Focusser. Sporadic white cloud (Really CLOUDLY now!) MAK150 / Baader Film / 250/1000(!) frames with Watec 120N+ at 25fps. Regitax'd / Random(!) Wavelets / Colourised a *lurid* yellow etc. etc. Comment: Haven't had this scope out for AGES. I THINK I'm actually focussing it remotely? lol. Might as well leave it on the mount - Just in case we get a clear evening for Jupiter etc. Oh yes... Lots of DUST on the sensor. Teach me to stop sawing up "MDF light" near Astro stuff?

Hmmm... This one was praying on my mind - Unusually BAD even for one of my "white light" efforts! Then I found the reason for lack of fine focus... I was rather PROUD of my new "safety feature" (arrowed)! A ring battery connector and a length of string to stop the camera falling to the floor - Should the brass rings on the eyepiece (camera) holder became loose! Unfortunately, I had *previously* chosen to attach the string to the focusser BODY, rather than the draw tube!! And I was wondering why the range of focus was rather "limited" above? Aaaargh! Good job it's a Crayford style focusser or the motor might have been spitting teeth! Now, with the string attached to the correct place, it could be a useful backup safety feature. Needless to say, it is again CLOUDY today! P.S. Don't worry about the battered look of the Watec - The paint started flaking from day ONE!

That's funny! No wonder I use Hair Elastics to hold my camera safe. They stretch

That's funny! No wonder I use Hair Elastics to hold my camera safe. They stretch Now there's an idea!! A day of mixed fortunes! Almost all the hardware that could go "on the blink" ... did! FOUR seasons in one day? Current BLACK cloud overcast. But got glimpses of the sun:
Seeing improved significantly as afternoon wore on. Not sure whether the second image is really showing details in the SPOT penumbrae.... granules etc., or it's simply an artifact of my over-enthusiastic use of Registax Wavelets? Resolved to a bit more "research" before any more random slider twiddling!

Better (solar) seeing in the early morning? An adage that hold true (this time): OK, so back to where I was about two years ago. Gotta to call that progress?!? Now a wider view with MAK150 plus >0.5x Atik focal reducer. I'm happy anyway.
Time to thing about giving the sensor a bit of a "dust" I think...

Yes they're much better. I wish i could get some early morning views, but I would have to put the scope out front and fight with the trees. I have to wait until about 11am before i get a glimpse at the sun, but then I get unrestricted views till late afternoon.

Yeah... Got more of a hang of it (processing) now. Actually, I prefer objects to the east of the meridian. Still haven't quite fixed the uhm... "slight dislocation" of the Meridian Flip! Anyway, waited 90min for a finger of cloud to grind inexorable North-South for a few closeups. Added a Skywatcher Barlow element to the camera nose for MAK150 = 2x1800mm = 3600mm (f24). Only got about 20/500 frames that made the 90% cut at the Sun's limb. lol. (I get the impression solar astronomers often use discard a LOT frames?) Anyway, enough for now. Just want to keep the whole system up a running for a (first of season) crack at the Planets tonight? A clear night is predicted locally, but who knows...

20/500 !!. I have been known to use less. I can remember only using 2 from 1000 coz the seeing was so bad. But hey, whatever works.
