Found it. Motion changes to AGC when a certain level is reached. hopefully I will be able to get first light with the SCB 4000 next week.
Incidentally, the Coaxial controller I bought works with cameras with the W6 chipset. The SCB 4000 has an A1 chipset.

I bought a Sammy SCB4000 which I need to remove the IR filter from. Does anyone have any instructions for the IR filter removal. Congrats on the new cam Btw i just noticed a post in sgl that says the W5 hand controller that some of us use for the scb2000 works for the 4000 too! Might be worth investing The W5 coaxial controller does not work with the A1 chipset of the SCB4000.

Did you message that dude on sgl to see what he's on about? I think he is pretty technical and has experience in VA so i just assumed he would be right. Must be talking pish tho.

Just posted the question. I tried the leads both ways round and got nothing from it.
I must say though that although using the computer control app means having the extra lead, but it works really well.
All this cabling I seem to be accumulating and using is becoming a pain. How you guys cope with using several cameras amazes me.

seems I was right. Peter on the SGL topic made a typo. He obviously has the SCB2000 not 4000.

I have just ordered the SCB-6001 HD SDI camera and I believe this has the A1 chipset?

It has a rs-485 connection mate. I know Allan got his 4000 working using that.

Mine works using a rs485 to rs232 converter. Only 3 wires linking the cam to the converter, then into usb converter into computer. There is a little windows 7 app which gives you a control pad on screen.

Thanks guys, it looks like there are several options. I am wondering if my DVR would do it also as it has RS485 for the PTZ. I think I'll give that a go first. One thing that would be nice is the ability to use the zoom without having the menu on screen. I like the idea of panning across the Moon and zooming in slowly. Anyone know if this is possible with a joystick type controller or is that specific to PTZ cams only?
