A quick shot through the MIST at the Hyades. Watec + OLD 35mm / F4 manual SLR lens Gives about a 10 deg (circular) field. Better to centre on Theta Tauri, next time!

Well done Chris. I find it amusing though how the Hyades is called an open Cluster. To me it just looks like some stars like most of the sky. When does a cluster become so 'open' that is is no longer a cluster but just stars in the sky?

Heheh - You definitely have a point, Ken! (Unlike the Bull's nose in the above?) Recently tried imaging a 30'x20' *oblong* open cluster in a 40'x30' scope field... The results were (needless to say) fairly unspectacular! This the current "wide field" setup (expecting better things!): 35mm/F4 & 135mm/F4 manual SLR lens. (For our UK viewers) Cobbled together with bits from: www.scopesnskies.com/prod/ScopeTeknix-accessories/dovetail-block/lngdovetailcamera.htmlCurrently "out of Stock" of course - So what's new?
