Hey guys,
Check this guys site out he sells some cool sounding stuff!! www.astrogene1000.com
He basically shows you how to make them yourself too.
I mailed him to see what hes saying and he got back to me. Heres his response to me asking him about a 909 module for guiding and wireless ability for the hand controller. And how much he charges on postage.
"Hi Chris,
Thank you for asking and sorry about tardy response.
I have all parts available to build 909's. I assume Guide Only?
My normal shipping is First class mail package. International shipping is $16 USD for small/lite weight packages.
For the wireless side, which flavor are you thinking about, wifi or bluetooth?
For wifi, I have an iphone/ipad IOS app that works as an Autostar II handbox.
The adapter will work on IOS or most Androids if you are using an app that understands TCP/IP (SkySafari, etc).
For use from a PC, it again depends on the application. If the application only understands serial ports then the freeware com0com/hub4com can present a virtual serial port to those applications, or the payware com2tcp which does the same.
For bluetooth, I have an Android app that lets you act as your 497 controller, through the scopes serial port. This does tie up your serial port though. The app has a passthrough mode so you can connect PC to android smartphone and the app will act as a conduit to the scope and back again to the PC.
On PC's bluetooth present a serial profile but windows bluetooth serial stack does not have the connection pegged up and only opens it to the device if a higher level application tries to use it. Other third party bluetooth stacks allow you to keep the connection pegged up and more higher applications like that a lot better.
