Hey guys i decided to re-invest some cash that i received for selling some unused eyepieces. Got a pretty good deal on a used 80mm WO ZS II on astrobuysell. It will be getting mounted on top of the lx90. My newly added counter weight system has given me the confidence to piggyback something so heavy on top of the lx. Ive been humming and hawing about doing this for a while. I done a bit of research and it seem the ZSII doesn't have the best kind of lens like the other ed80's something about 51 v 53. But apparently they are still great little scopes. And since its basically recycled astronomy gear money i cant go too wrong. One of the main reasons i ended up going for this one was....it just looks so pretty! And matches my scopes colour lol Will update with pics when i get it

Ok it arrived today. Insanely well packaged! Not impressed to say the least tho... wtf is this on the inside lens??? Some smeared crap all the way round it plus a scratch in the coatings.... All on the inside glass... Paid him £250 for it. Here is his advert. www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php?view=77827This was said in the emails... Me: "Ok and everything is in perfect condition yeh? How's the main lens looking?" Him: "I will send you some images tomorrow of it and you can decide. The objective is in perfect condition." A more minor issue is the condition of the paintwork on the tube where the lens cap slides up and down. Plus the condition of the focuser... What should i do? Demand a refund yeh? Makes me sick that for like 50 quid more i could have got a good one...

Well I wouldn't say the lens was in perfect condition. I would have advertised as lens may need cleaned and a small scratch on the coating TBH.
I'm sure the lens can be cleaned but what effect the scratch has I dont know. It may not effect the use at all but it should have been pointed out.

looks like he's poked something down it to clean it and made it worse. Can the cell be unscrewed? and leave the lens intact as you don't want to remove the lens has this might make it worse has the 2 elements will be lined up when it was assembled
I would try it out first to see if it effects the viewing and if it doesn't I would leave it alone

I would contact the seller and ask for a refund as its not in perfect condition and would like a full refund. .I would pay postage back to seller. .ive allways fancied a williams scope and was swaying towards getting one but got the ed80 instead..

Nah getting a refund which is good. He said it was fine when he sent it and tried to blame it on humidity during transport... This thing came packaged like a demon there is no way thats possible.
Yep John thats exactly what must have happened. Nah the cell cant be unscrewed anyway.
My first dodgy buy from astobuysell...at least hes prepared to refund me i guess.
Would rather take a small loss on postage now than end up keeping something i dont like and later just getting something else.

We have a few starwaves at the club, and people who have used them have rated them highly, they're well made

I gave the etx to a mate was hoping he would use it... but he never took it out its case in like 4 months. So thought i will just punt it. In reality its just a smaller version of the lx90. Has the same tiny FOV. Looking forward to something a bit different

Will be mounting it on the lx90 mate. And will prob invest in a cheap camera tripod for nice travel scope. Seeing the 80ED in the flesh and feeling the weight it kinda felt a bit much to go on top of the lx90 8". The 10" or 12" would prob handle it better. This seemed like a better option than getting another ed80.

WOW, 420mm focal length! Excellent move Chris. That will give a lovely wide FOV with a Focal Reducer. Well done. I hope you got your money back from that damaged scope.

55 pounds! That's a fair bit!
He sold you a dud scope advertised as perfect. He owes you 100% refund. Yep, get to the airport!

I will copy and paste the emails between us today for a laugh...
Me: I received a partial refund this morning... Wanna explain why you only refunded me £215?? Including the return postage cost im £55 short... Considering that this was all your fault in your untruthful description of the condition...i expect a full refund! Please resolve this or i will be forced to take action.
Him:I refunded you the payment, minus the cost of shipping to Glasgow. Not my problem that you chose to ship back with UPS, probably the costliest shipping company around. Its not a business I'm running, its a buy and sell website, so you buy at your own risk. Hence, your lucky I even gave you a refund! I've never heard of refunds been given before on secondhand goods between private individuals. I had photos and you stated that that the condition of the tube wasnt an issue. It was fine to me and I sent you images taken with the scope of M42 which show no sign of abberations. You are suffering from buyers remorse, which I am certainly not going to pay for.
Me: Minus the shipping??? What? I paid you £250 for a scope you claimed to be perfect!! Yes I bought something used. That doesn't give you the right to completely lie about the condition!! I didn't pay you £215 plus postage! I paid you £250 for the scope!!! You took care of the postage! You think it's acceptable for me to have paid £270 including shipping the junk back to you and only get £215 back??? You must be joking! Refund me the £35 then we have both taken a hit on postage!
Also as luck would have it I'm on a stag do in Dublin very soon. So if you fail to resolve this we will be seeing each other in person to sort this out. You have tried to rip off the wrong person!
Me(30 mins later): in fact you know what u you have p****d me off to a point i dont even care about the £35... im looking forward to dealing with you in person! Its not about the money anymore... no one rips me off and gets away with it! F*****g con man!
See you soon!
Him (5mins later): Money is sent. Won't be dealing with you again.
hahahaha well im only down the postage cost now... Still wanna smash him tho.
