As long as the clouds don't turn up and mess things up I should be on in about 30 minutes to try out the camcorder on the Moon with the Equinox. I should also have the Mallincam on the C11 to see a side by side.

Bit perplexed as no problem with my old reflector so need to work this one out. As for the bridge camera I have focus but had to zoom right in and as it is quite breezy (as it would be!!) the view is not great.

Not sure if it is because of the camcorder lens, I know if I don't use a eyepiece in front of the camcorder on the 130P it wont work, I will try it on the ED80 tomorrow but will have to use the camcorder lcd as I'm still waiting for AV lead to connect to pc.
Someone has said on another forum that they could not get it to work, and he had another old camcorder and removed the lens on it and then it worked, but I'm not going to do that.

On the C11 I kept picking up the secondary mirror and on the Equinox I got nothing. I tried with the diagonal and without. I am guessing I may be need a straight extension tube. I used the LCD last night and now wish all the cameras had one as it did make things easier!

Ok just had a quick play with camcorder and ED80, I have to use the 25mm eyepiece with it and I can get focus but you have to also use the camcorder zoom and adjust it so you get a full image in the lcd but there is a bit of vignetting, but it does work, also the image is upside down

Sounds like it is not as easy as hoped But "difficulties are put there to make us stronger". and the clown who wrote that saying probably lives in a nut-house

By the sounds of it I need to use a 25mm. Next time out I'll try a few combos. Not sure when that will be though as this weather is a nightmare! Batten down the hatches time

Not sure when that will be though as this weather is a nightmare! Batten down the hatches time I think a 40mm should work just fine from a theoretical perspective. It may just be a spacing issue between camera and eyepiece. I'm sure testing will sort it out.

done a bit more playing around, to get a full image in lcd screen all I had to do is up the zoom on camcorder, but I think it degrades the image, so far the camcorder is disappointing, here are 2 snapshots
it might get better over distance, this is about 1.2k away

The zoomed out image has nice detail. Yeah, the zoomed in one looks like any zoomed in image. Blurry. Be good to try it on a bright star to see if the star stays sharp at both ends of Zoom.

Moon will be the ultimate test I recon. What zoom does the camera have Johnno? Also did you connect the eyepiece direct to the ed80 or did you use a diagonal?

Ken, believe it or not the one on the right is the 2000p..miles better than the camcorder
the camcorder on the left is the best I can get it with a 25mm EP,I had to use digital zoom to get rid of the vignetting and maybe that's why its a bit blurry? it might need a 32 or 42 to match the sammy

Karl I'm thinking the same, cant really tell till its tried on the moon, also what I did notice in the LCD was a bit of washout near the centre of the image, you cant see it in the image but its there when I zoom out. Now this could be because of the cam lens and the EP, to much glass in front of the sensor? Also tried a .5 FR screwed into the front of the EP but could not get a good enough focus.

Weird this as we know it works but something is missing. From memory when I did my video I must have used a 25mm eyepiece or less as I did not have the 40mm back then. That came with the C11. Hopefully next week we'll have better weather for testing. Oh I do like a challenge!
