I am trying to do everything as per the Tutorial Videos on collecting images, doing darks, stacking all the data, and processing the final image. BUT! how come it doesn't work as it does in the Tutorial Videos This new gear is doing my head in Poor Mike had to sit here and watch me pull my hair out (what's left of it) as I fumbled and bumbled my way through the process, and I do exactly what the chap in the video does, and yet all I produce is crap Here's tonight's effort. Hours of work for one of my worst Carina Nebula's ever FLI PL16803 camera, Officina Stellare RH-200 Astrograph, EQ8, RGB filters. 30 x 10s each filter. Captured and Stacked in Maxim DL5, Processed in PhotoShop.

Clearly the target can be recognised. It's as if you are looking through something covering the photo. A huge amount of time and effort went into this photo, for a less than desired result. I am sure Ken will keep testing various settings to get the type of photo that is required. looking forward to viewing more of Ken's photos with the new gear.

. . . It's as if you are looking through something covering the photo. . . . Interesting point Mike. I wonder if the 97% Moon had something to do with it. The Moon is OK for Narrowband imaging but this is RGB Broadband, which sucks in Moonlight. It's just as well I packed up when I did. 10 minutes later we were hit by a massive thunderstorm that threw lightning bolts for the next 4 hours, lighting several bushfires in our area

I had another go tonight because we had another clear sky, but . . . Same problem This is probably the worst NGC253 I have ever captured!!! I even tried a different stacking method, and a different Processing method. AAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!
Oh well, plenty of good weather forecast in the next week so I should be able to get more practice in
