Took the plunge this year to get to the Scottish star camp at Newton Stewart at the Galloway forest dark site.. it's set for November and unfortunately needed to cancel playing with pipe band at armistice parade.. This is where me and uncle John had planned to go but,, something always cropped up.. with uncle John passing I though ..what a good way to honour him ..by going down with the scopemobile for the weekend and try a star camp..
So I'm upgrading the van a bit more before then.. I'm currently sitting in a holiday campsite in montrose not too far from Aberdeen on the east coast of Scotland.. I got an electric hook up and tried it on the van for first time and everything working great.. So I'm adding another fusebox to the van behind drivers seat and rear passenger seat.. drivers seat is a captain style and I have an island table there as well ..so I can sit there and do astronomy in the warm.. so putting in another 12v panel with cigarette socket and uses.. I have a 240v double socket I can use as well when on campsite hook up.. Looking forward to this.. Looking at funds after my trip to see if I pull the trigger on the zwo seestar lol Hopefully some bits will get delivered soon.. I'm fitting a waterproof 12v cigarette lighter socket to the outside of the campervan along with a usb data socket to control.. mount and camera without having cables going through windows or doors.

Thanks for that Davy, I think LDV did the original 50 shades of grey! I used to have a LDV van when I did markets, petrol and single rear wheels, not made for good handling! Another brand bought by the Chinese, (Shanghai Automobile).
Found the back to black on Ebay OK.

My mum wanted to go to the Isle of Skye and we had a 6 berth motorhome with overcab bed. We set off and the crosswind got stronger as we travelled North, started to get a bit hairy so I pulled over and shifted everthing on board to the left hand side of the van. Set off again, handling a bit better but the wind was still strong, then I came across a section of the A1 that was on an embankment. Had to drive alongside a tipper truck until we got to a sheltered section, I'd booked is into a campsite on the A68 or I would have probably just given up and stopped for the night. Didn't need an excuse to go to Scotland, wind or not.
