I gave up this year,, weather been really bad,, if its not clouds, its raining or light pollution. So just getting on with other stuff till the weather gives us a break lol.
Been busy,, Armistice parade went really well,, I put out 5 tenor drummers and bass drummer,,pleased as punch. Started learning new tunes,,on up of that Refurbishing my drom,, just graffics to do for it. And I'm going to learn to play the bugle,,got one the other day and will be hopefully band and association bugler.
Bought myself a resin 3d printer and wash and cure machine
Also Bought myself a vacuum chamber to stabilise antler and wood.
And sand casting equipment..
Got to keep busy lol,,only year I've said,, I have enough astronomy kit and not Bought anything

Yeah Davy, the weather hasn't been good to many people this year. But it's good to have other hobbies to fill the cloudy nights

It's been annoying, seen a few folk sell up,, and wondered about it myself,, but,, just put the gear tone side and move on till the weather breaks or light nights appear again.
Been busy at pipe band and fancied learning to play the bugle ,,always stood in awe when the last Post is played,, and Brought it up at band age tat we should have a bugler,, drummers in regimental bands are trained buglers as well,, and looks like the regimental association will get me a tutor. If not will learn myself,, only five notes,,I did try the bagpipes but drumming was my passion....
Looking to progress my leather belt making and next step was to make custom stamps,, the resin printer hopefully will work and give better results than my filament printer,, going to use the resin printer to make parts for sgian dubh handles,, make pewter parts via sand casting, Lot to get on with

Nice to hear you have been busy with the band Davy.
This has been the worst year for cloud for a while. Even when it is supposed to be clear there is still a layer of cloud up there. I've had a few sessions since the summer but not taken any images.
As for light pollution, if I knew how bad it was going to be now, I probably would have not built the observatory. I have a floodlit golf driving range just down the road, so stargazing in the early evening is a waste of time.
Merry Christmas to you all and all the best for 2022.

Just brilliant. The James Webb telescopes arrival in Earth orbit has been confirmed.
Now the origami starts! It is going to be 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, so we won't be able to fix it with a space walk. Plenty of crossed fingers at NASA for a while yet.

Yeah,,watched the launch. Amazing,, we've all seen the shuttle and rocket lift off but this one is special,, the information that will come back is going to be a game changer,, image wise..wow,, cameras going right to the red shift.. And ok it's apples to oranges comparison with hubble,,but recon it's 100 times more powerful...going to be a long six months waiting on it going fully operational
