Our best season (winter sky) is totally ruined so far by terrible weather. Or we would be out there. Surely its got to get better soon.

I'm also preparing for the new season, as I've lost most of the last 2/3 seasons for various reasons. Moon picture from tonight's testing:- SW 100ED, ZWO ASI224MC, Sharcap 4.0. I am aiming to have everything working and get enough practice in before the clock change in September.

Excellent shot Harry! I can see mountains on the right hand limb. That's a sign of a very good Moon image. Stunning.

Thanks Ken, that was my third attempt, I thought it was Sharcap that wasn't playing ball, turned out to be my skill levels and a finder scope not aligned properly. Jupiter is up there at around 2.00am so that is my next target.

Done some more Moon pictures, with and without ZWO 1.25″ IR 850nm Pass Filter, the filter seems to improve the contrast: - Without filter With filter

Yep, certainly a contrast difference. But hard to compare two images that aren't the same FOV or area of interest on the Moon surface, matching exposure times, settings etc.

The difference between the 2 captures is partly due to my lack of experience with the new camera, I have tried to repeat the test tonight but the exposure has to be adjusted with the filter fitted. Then the object has also moved and I didn't get the camera back in quite the same position. All part of the learning curve.
