Looking for a good planetary cam that isn't too expensive to go on my Dob. Anyone have any suggestions?

Whats the difference? Wouldnt your Jnr pro do a great job at that too?

Could try a webcam for cheap option..or a high frame rate camera but would be a big jump in your budget.

Ok here is my reasoning. I do not want to ever remove my mallincam from my VRC. This is a dedicated deep space setup. I have a homemade goto 10" dob I plan to use as a dedicated Solar Setup. I already have a webcam, but it seems to have hot spots and does not handle the range of brightness of the moon well. It also has an auto exposure which makes it hard. So I'm looking for something more designed for this task. Here is an image from testing this evening. This is with my webcam through thin clouds. I like the FOV!

Here is a better example. I have to way overexpose to get the detail. I never had this trouble with a security camera, as there were functions to improve this. So looking something higher resolution designed for this task.

Not sure if a DFK21 au618 fits within your budget Hemmi, but it would be an great cam for solar system at 60fps.

Good call Ken, I allways forget about this little beasty. I swear I'm gonna put mine on the scope and try it out again one day.

I have used mine during a few NSN broadcasts Allan. Works nicely in NSN. Simple USB Plug and Play Can't use my Modified version though. Need to plug it into a serial port on a desktop and I don't have one any more.
