Bought the 50ed guide scope the other day and it arrived two days after ordered from first light optics UK, This is the new version with dovetail plate and finder mount,, Unboxing it I found it to to a nice balanced scope,, size and weight perfect,, doesn't feel like a toy.
Tried my Canon 5d mk2 on it and pointed out the window,, wet and miserable night,, and I could not find the focal point,, extensions on and off,,, Nope,, thought I'd wait to the weekend and try it during the day. In the meantime done more reading on the telescope,, I've seen pictures and read posts saying a dslr was used,, t3 camera with crop sensor,, Can't find anything on the full frame getting fitted so far. Got home sharpish after work last night and it was still light,, so I put a crop sensor Canon camera on the scope and it reaches focus without adapters,, just as it said it would in posts I'd read,, Few niggles with the scope that could be addressed in my opinion, The locking thumb screws have to be removed or screwed out to let the t adapter screw right down,, Can see these getting lost on a dark night. A rotator would d have been nice as well,, I found I had to fit t Adapter to the scope,, then camera to t adapter,, I found that loosening the scope mount bolts let the scope turn to allow camera to so set up to frame an image.
Only took one shot of far away hills and the focus looked a bit soft but I believe this was due to weather conditions as I've read elsewhere that it gives superb sharp stars for guiding..
Bit more testing to see if focus can be found on the full frame,,
