For new members/guests im davy and from scotland, i jump between video astronomy and astrophotography, im of he opinion i dont need to stick to one of these two diciplines and do what takes he fancy at the time,,been into astronomy seriously since 2010 and just starting to get the hang of it. ive been a lunar fanaic for years but i think its to move on and try other captures.
im lucky enough to have bought equipment that allows me to go between AP and AV, my main rig is the heq5 wih rowan belt mod, tethered to cdc and eq mod, i prefer using backyard eos... i have the evostar ed80 and 0.85 focal reducer. canon 600d,,some narrow band filters.. orion mini guider ,qhy5lii but never guided so far. few learning curves for me then i have an eq3 pro and wifi control,, esprit ed80 and a canon 5d mk2 that i hope to use as my portable set up..ordered the flatner and bits n bobs,,waiing on stock arrival.

Good on you Davy. This forum has always been flexible .As the hobby changes you and Ken go with it.
My kids were home for Christmas and we have had a couple of clear nights with the scopes out. The moon was very bright and the images were ordinary but that may have been related to glasses of red. My son is trying to get me to do AP,but I told him I didnt have the patience to do guiding and all the post processing. All the same ,it has got me thinking about it.
I have the Esprit 80 , the Evostar 50 and the ASIair pro which does guiding and live stacking all on the one program,so I might have a crack at AP in 2021.
Having a forum that welcomes the whole spectrum of Camera Assisted Astronomy is great cheers Paul

Paul, there is a quick way to do Astrophotgraphy with the gear we have and only takes a few minutes. I will show you next time you are down here. It's too hard to explain easily online but takes only minutes to show in person
