What do you think of the Star Adventurer,Davy? I follow Dylan on his youtube videos and like his humour, but I have trouble with the concept of the Star Adventurer. It will only slew in RA Like you I have an az-gti with the star adventurer wedge which is an EQ mount and slews in RA and Dec. Have only used it a couple of times. Combined with an ASIair it is a very light rig for grab and go cheers Paul

To be honest,, used it once in the field,, and it bored me lol,, I don't mean it in a bad way,, it just made me feel like an astrophotographer rather than av,, It's a good edition to my kit and its simplicity is good,, set it up and let it track in ra,, Perfect for time lapse video,, When I used it,, I ended up using it in AP,, The azgti,, felt better for video astronomy,, motor in both axis,, great.. First time I used it,, I used standard tripod and dslr/lens and as noted by others using it,, the tripod is crap. I tried it on a video tripod and with the wedge from the SA,, and yes it is better,, I bought the cable to tether it to laptop and had all the bells and whistles... But I then said to myself,, would I trust a scope on it,, Only got two scopes that would fit it The evostar ed80 with upgraded focuser and sw focal reducer /flatner,, fair bit of kit to trash.. Second scope,, the esprit ed80 and more expensive than previous scope was definitely a no go for me. My solution,, personally,, was to settle on using my eq3 Pro,, it ticked the boxes for me.. I added the WiFi module to replace the handset and tether cable and with this mod I knew this would be my portable kit for AV, Will I use the star adventurer,, yes,, but only with a camera and lens,, and use it for fun when the eq3 is doing its stuff, The star adventurer mk2 is a better option than the Mk1, given the fact it can be preset via a phone, tablet, laptop. If

Yep, I agree . I will use the az-gti only for the smallest scopes I have. The esprit 80 is too big and heavy for the az-gti. I have a EQ35m which is similar in weight to the EQ3 and thats what I use for the esprit 80 when on the go. cheers Paul
