I have the skywatcher electric focuser and had it on the ed80,, anyone who has one will know that the power side of it is pants,, struggles bit,, well sounds more laboured in fairness,, I got a hitecastro dc focuser unit and it uses 12v dc and no worries there with it struggling,, beats the old skywatcher button control any day.. And hs usb,, Ascom compliant.. Worked brilliant. Problem was when I upgraded the ed80 focuser,, none of the brackets fitted,, Finally getting round to rectifying this,, took some measurements and done a test piece,, few mm out,, second on printing to see if it's better,, Done test piece in clear,, final piece will be skywatcher green,

Ended up on third print before I got it the way I wanted it,, made it a bit thickness due to doing in plastic compared to metal,, ordered some 3mm washers and nuts to mount it,, another job completed,, nearly,, could have made it with metal but I think it will be OK 3d printed as I made it pretty dense in the infill and done it to strongest shape,, 1hr 10 min to print

What software do you use to design for 3D printing Davy? I tried various free cad programs but prefer the autocad type and use Turbocad Deluxe myself with tidying up and cross checking in Blender.

I really like my Orion/Skywatcher/Saxon electric focuser davy. I run two of them and they've always served me well but finally one controller died last month. It lasted about 15 years The annoying part is I had to buy a whole new kit because they don't sell just the controller separately. Oh well, I now have a spare motor I have had to make strange shaped brackets for them every time I change scopes
