Hey guys got another daft question for you lot So last night i managed to get the MCX out for the first time...Battling the clouds all night! Was frustrating haha! Anyway being soooo cloudy the only thing in the sky i could see was Jupiter. So i go there. Using no reducer so im at f/10. But the problem i found was i was over exposing and couldnt get any detail. I couldnt lower the shutter speed as i was at the max 1/12000. I had AGC set to off and brightness right down. But still i was getting the moons! Chatting with the viewers we could only think of the haze / clouds were causing it. But to me that doesnt make much sense. If anything i should need to increase the exposure through the clouds i would think.... Was totally stumped with it... just gave up on it and went to a different object. Is it possible this cam is too sensitive with my scope pointing at jupiter? Or am i doing something totally daft?

Yes Chris, I have had this problem too. What happens is, for some reason, the sens-up stays on even though we turn it off. It needs a nudge. Solving it will depend on the software you are using. How I solved it when I was using Stephan's Mallincam software (the free one from Mallincam website) was to set the camera back to sens-up (128x), then back to Off. This time the camera recognised what I wanted and turned sens-up (integration) off. If it still doesn't help, after doing that step set the time to any setting, 1/8000 will do. then turn it OFF gain, then back to 1/8000. It should work this time. I don't know why it does this, but it works for me when I turn 128x back on then off again. Attachments:

Ok thanks well at least i wasnt doing something stupid then So i should prob look into using the standard mallincam software for this then. As Miloslick i dont think you can do that. As you need to select from the drop down box what you want...i.e. 'Video mode' 'Sense-up' or 'Hyper mode'. Or can i just go into 'sense-up' then make sure its set to off (if thats possible in miloslick...dunno if you start at x2 will check later) then go back to video?

Chris, I haven't checked sub-second video with Miloslick so I don't know if it happens or not, but it must if you have it.
Maybe open Stephans software, do the on off bit, then close it and go back to Miloslick.
Believe it or not, some settings in Miloslick can be set in Stephans software and even Amcap, so when you return to Miloslick the adjustment carries over and works in there. Weird huh!

Hi Chris,
I have had excellent results on Jupiter with my MCX! Using Stephan's software I select either the Moon pre-set or planets. I then play with the sense up settings to get it just right. Once I had detail and the Moons but I think the seeing was good that night.

I have read you should do this before using miloslick. As any changes saved using buttons or other software can cause issues. Worth a try!
