Hello RadekK I have downloaded the Astroberry Server for the Raspberry Pi 4 and all the software works very well. I was very pleased that a couple of my RisingSky cameras were recognised and work very well for trees. I have just got astroberry up and running this afternoon but unfortunately have a long meeting tonight which looks like being the only clear night for a while. The major problem I have is passwords. On bootup it keeps asking for a password which I ignore and it boots up anyway. I am trying to see what it will do with my ipad over wifi. The ipad recognises the wifi but wont let me in because I have the wrong password. I got in to the astroberry wifi and changed it to my password but the ipad tells me it not the old one or the new one. The world would be a much better place without passwords. They are there to keep the owners out and let the hackers in After my little rant, you have done a great job on the software. cheers Paul

Hi Paul, welcome to astroberry world ;-) Default password (anytime you need it) is astroberry. It could be the case that ipad does not like astroberry's hotspot's configuration. In such case after booting astroberry, connect it to your home WiFi by editing Wireless Connection (right click on wifi icon in top taskbar). After you set network name and password, reboot and your astroberry will be available in your home network (hotspot will be disabled automatically). From this point you will be able to access the system by pointing your browser to astroberry.local

I don't know the solution for this. It's device dependent issue. It's worthwhile looking for a solution on the Internet

Radek, there is a youtube video on how to do it and it requires a lot of code and steps. I was hoping there was an easier way. I am posting this from the pi and am about to try downloading the astroberry onto Raspian using the code you posted cheers Paul

Nah, cant download astroberry onto Raspian buster . I have astroberry on one sd and Raspian Buster on another sd.I dont have the skills to get astroberry onto Raspian buster. That is no big deal in the scheme of things. The main thing is that I can run the RisingSky cameras on the Pi. When I have more energy, I will try again to control the Pi from the ipad. Youtube says it can be done, so I will try again another day. cheers Paul

Yes,I understand that oldstash, but on the astroberry site, the second option is to download the astroberry software onto Raspian buster using the code given by Radek. It loads alot of stuff and launches into fail this, fail that, fail something else and eventually aborts. On the other hand, I tried to download libreoffice suite onto the astroberry server which uses Raspian buster but have had no luck. It is not that big a deal--- both program sets do what they are supposed to do.
There is a way for the apple ipad to control the pi 4 as shown on youtube but it is a bit too complex for me
cheers Paul

OK no problem. Must admit its been a while since I "loaded" Astroberry via the second option but it did load for me ok as it uses standard Linux Software Install/Update utility APT. by "second option" I presume you mean wget -O - www.astroberry.io/repo/key | sudo apt-key add - sudo su -c "echo 'deb www.astroberry.io/repo/ buster main' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/astroberry.list" sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo apt install astroberry-server-full As this failed it would have been nice to have kept the log (screen print or whatever) to show to Radek as it used to work - to help other users. Having said that its far simpler just to download the already prepared image.:-)

Yes oldstash. I copied and pasted it to the terminal and it launched into a lot of stuff and then failed. It is not a big problem for me as astroberry is the important one that works. I wont get another chance to give it another go for a few days. cheers Paul

Could you make a screenshot or copy the output so I can take a look at it?

Radek and Oldstash, I got the second option to work today but had to add the last line in again. The download would get as far as "sudo apt upgrade" then ask if you want to continue. No matter what the answer was it would then abort without going on to the "sudo apt install astroberry server". So I just added that in again. I am not sure if that was what was meant to happen but as a linux novice I found it a bit confusing. Anyway thanks for your input. It is all looking very promising.
It will be very interesting to see how popular the pi 4 will get. A lot of VA'ers want a small computer on their mount . The intel stick sounds like it is a bit underpowered for the job. A lot seem to have a nuc attached. The nuc is a pretty big unit compared to the pi,so the pi has a big advantage there.I have a canyon nuc which is bigger still but would never put it on my mount. I dont need to anyway. The ZWO pro is for ZWO cameras only so I suspect there will be a lot of interest in the Astroberry from all the others.I am pleased the software recognizes the RisingSky 432.
My next job is to work out how to wifi control my ipad with the pi. That would be a good grab and go system.
cheers
Paul

Hi Paul, OK the lines dont have to be copied all in one go and the first 2 lines shouldn't really be repeated as they just add pointers to where the Software is being installed/updated from. Just check the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/astroberry.list which should contain the "deb www.astroberry.io/repo/" info - thats the "REPO" for Astroberry. The next to lines will just update all RPI software on the image from the respective "REPO" (sources on the Internet" ) The next line "sudo apt install astroberry-server-full" tries to install Astroberry obviously but again its only needed once if it successful - If it is succesful you just need to do a "sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade " now and again to update software already installed - this will keep ALL software up todate. Warning you should really have a backup of the image BEFORE doing "update and upgrade" just in case. I use 2 SD cards and back up the image to my Windows system just in case. So its a case of finding what state you install is at - hence info needed ! the command line tool APT has a list command (plus many many more "options" ) which you can check the state of an individual package. OR just remove astroberry - it will fail if its not installed - with apt remove --purge astroberry-server-full apt clean apt auto remove Then do the install for Astroberry again - i.e. sudo apt install astroberry-server-full - you will be asked for the password again. The log(s) should be in /var/log/apt Here are some useful commands for working with Linux on PI www.tomshardware.com/uk/reviews/raspberry-pi-command-line-commands,6159.html You may or may not know all of them.
