Oooo, looks very nice Davy. But yes, Bintel is expensive. They are here in Australia and our prices are about 60% more than USA prices. It will be far cheaper to get one sent to you from America. It's cheaper for us to do that too if we can find US dealers that will send to Australia. That new scope will be fantastic for what we do! 530mm focal length!!!!! WOW! Nice The old standard ED80 is great and it is 600mm focal length. This new one is faster! Interesting that it has a 2.4" focuser, not the standard 2". Not much info on the Skywatcher Australia site: skywatcheraustralia.com.au/product/82ed-evolux-refractor-ota/There's no mention of them on the Skywatcher international website: www.skywatcher.com/category/telescopes/

New sized focal reducer as well.. Think I saw .9 Yep, it's really only a Field Flattener. All Field Flatteners are very mild focal reducers because of the lens they use to flatten. You will notice all Flatteners only reduce a tiny amount. They aren't designed to reduce, it is just a side effect of making it flatten the light path.

Andrews Communications in Sydney has the ED82 for $AUD 1,299 available late April early May, and Astro Anarchy in Brisbane for $AUD 1,295 .... so both a couple of hundred off Bintel and Andrews also the new ED62 for $AUD $699 f/6.5 400mm fl with reducer/flattener available "soon" which takes it down to f/5.8 or 360mm fl, and AstroAnarchy has these for $AUD675. Cheers Howie

Thanks Howie. I expected Andrews to be cheaper as usual but I didn't expect Astro Anarchy to beat Andrews!!! Wow, that will really bring competition, and benefit us the buyers. Andrews has the EVOSTAR ED72 ED refractor for $599

I wonder why Skywatcher has a 50ED,62ED,72ED and 82 ED. I am happy with my 72 ED,but why so many choices ? cheers Paul Synta (the maker of Skywatcher, Orion, etc etc) listen to what people say in Forums and by many request emails. They make what people want, if enough people want it. An example is the Refractor section in Cloudy Nights. They read it all. If LOTS of people post that they would prefer a certain size ED or Achro or whatever, they make it. They'd be stupid if they didn't. And mainly because whatever size ED they make, people seem to buy them.
