Hi, this is my first time posting here. I just got back from the dark site that I go too and I took some video and processed the images just to see how it would come out. My setup is a Orion XT10goto, 0.5x focal reducer, SCB 2000 modded with 2 fans with IR filter removed, and a pc.

I forgot one IC434 Horse Head Nebula
As for the fan mod. I just duplicated what I've seen others do. It also probably helped that it was just below freezing.

Ohh a question on the fan mod. Any chance you have pics of some object of 'before' and 'after' fan mod nah? Would be interested to see just how much it effects it.

Sorry I don't have any before and after as far as hot pixels go. I do have some pictures i took back in July.
All my images are processed with Deep sky stacker then further processing in photoshop. Honestly I got great data. If you would like i can up load the avi video to YouTube (its 6am here so it'll have to be later today)
I messed around with the agc and the ssnr and the other one. I set both half way up.
I live in Houston Texas, USA. The dark site i go to is almost 2 hours drive from where I live.

Hi Erik very nice! A good nights work. First I've seen the horsey through a Sammy! M81 is a tricky customer, live all I get is the core it took me to do a lot of processing to get the rest but I can see it in your picture.
Thanks for sharing your work.

Thanks for the info on how you process them. And it would be great if you could upload a video when you get the chance! This is a video astronomy forum. We want more video Sounds like i use similar settings to you. Both ssnr and ssdr or whatever it is to around half way. Ive found AGC it depends on conditions and if im pointing into light pollution or not. Normally set to low tho. Ah ok Texas thats cool. And wow a 2 hour drive...thats dedication! Well in!

G'day Erik, welcome. They are really good images from the Sammy 2000. I noticed that the first pic (M42) has the stars slightly out of focus (an unfortunate struggle with long focal lengths) but that as the images go along they get better focus. Well done. The colours in M42 and M82 look good. That Horsehead is really good for a Sammy 2000!

Thanks guys! Thanks for the comments.
As for as the focus, i still need to make a bahtinov mask. Right now i just use the diffraction spikes from the spider holding the secondary mirror. My scope is a 10" dob with tracking. I used a focal reducer to get the f ratio down to a little bit. It is initially a f4.7 (1200mm)
I'll post the videos on YouTube
M42
I'll add some more though out the day, so just check my YouTube from the link above.

I would love to get some more details about that focal reducer you have working on a Dob/newt, from what I've read it's not the easist thing to achieve.

I would love to get some more details about that focal reducer you have working on a Dob/newt, from what I've read it's not the easist thing to achieve. I just have a GSO 0.5x focal reducer and i use a 2" c-mount adapter from scopestuff.com. With that adapter the focal reducer sits a little closer, so it really works as a 0.67x. My scope is a f4.7 and with the reducer I get around f3.15. I have plenty of room to push the reducer 5mm further, but there image suffers. If you want pictures of how it fits let me know.
