Everything I read says I’ll benefit from a 0.5x focal reducer.
Assuming I will use a asi224 and a refractor scope, where is the focal reducer attached? Is there a special kind I need to get?
Sorry for the ignorance betrayed by such basic questions!

So stupid questions asked here,, If you don't know ask,, we were all new to it at one time. Few ways to do do it First is ,,screw it on to the end of a 1.25 nose piece cheapest option Second is ,, use a filter wheel. It comes in different amounts and sizes,, 5 position,, and can take 1.25" filters or 2" filters, I'm shure a focal reducer can fit in one.

Thanks!
So let’s say I’m using a refractor and zwo camera, and I also want to use an IR and UHC filter. Would the proper connections be camera to nose piece to reducer to filters, all of which then goes into the telescope focuser?

Would the proper connections be camera to nose piece to reducer to filters, all of which then goes into the telescope focuser? Forget the nosepiece if you use a commercially made Focal reducer. Camera -> Focal Reducer -> IR cut filter -> UHC -> into Focuser If focus is a mess add a short nosepiece in between Camera and Focal reducer If you make my home made version you will need this method: Camera -> Nosepiece -> IR cut filter -> UHC -> Home made FR -> into 2" Focuser
