I got a new ASI294MC for Christmas. It actually arrived about a week before Christmas but the wife said I had to wait. Of course, the sky was pristine before Christmas. I'm still waiting on a good night to take it out, hopefully tomorrow night or Friday.

You will love the 294 Rob. It will be good to see what you come up with on your 12" dob. So much more alt/az friendly than the 1600 Paul

My first light will be with the 80mm. I need to clear out the dob shed for black widows. It's been a while since I've used it and last time I opened it, there was a big one in there.

We call them Red Backs. They are everywhere but havent had the pleasure in the dob as yet. I need to spend more time with the ED80 as well ....and the f4 newts and everything else.
For 2 weeks I am on holidays down the Victorian Coast at Torquay which is always cloudy. I have the C6 and the 224 with me and in the first week we have had 2 clear nights. Trouble is I started setting up but then thought...Nah ,too tired and went to bed.
Thanks for sorting out the arcsec/pixel for the image and fratio for the dob Paul

Finally! Here are some of my first images. ASI294MC w/IDAS LPR-P2 filter, Orion ED80T-CF/AVX. Televue 0.8x focal reducer/flattener which brings the focal ratio down to f/4.8. Click the image for a full size image: M97 & M108 (38x16s, Gain 400): Flame Nebula and Horsehead Nebula (38x16s, gain 400): M45 (34x16s, gain 400): M42 (213x1s, gain 400):
M81&M82 (40x16s, gain 400):

Nice. They seem very dark though. We're they histogram stretched, or maybe it's my phone ?

They are a bit dark. I think it's due to my inexperience with Sharpcap. Here's a photoshop boost of the Flame/Horsehead:

Here are some more images. I used an Orion Field Flattener instead of the Televue so I could run it at it's native f/ratio (f/5.9): NGC 2903 (30x15s, 400 gain): NGC 2419 (20x15s, 400 gain): M81 & M82 (14x30s, 400 gain): NGC 2403 (39x15s, 400 gain): NGC 2392 (72x4s, 400 gain): M97 (38x16s, 400 gain): Rosette Nebula (24x16s, 400 gain):

That's come out a ripper Rob. 6min and you got that! Better than a lot of 6hr jobs I've seen on astrobin.
one question. Did you have an asi174 mm? If so was it any good for EAA? I'm thinking of getting one to double up for that, but mainly as for an OAG.

I never had one. The only mono camera I have is the Lodestar X2M. Al Viegas on CN mentioned that it was a great camera for Video Astronomy. Are you planning on the mini?

Iwould but I can't seem to find the mini in Australia!
Would like a mono sensor bigger than my asi290. Might look up Al's posts. Thanks.
