Nice looking "upgrade" - one thing - I use the same USB HUB (only 4 port) - you will find that, if its now on the outside of the box, it will give off a load of blue light which will be picked up by your camera (it did on mine anyway) so I used good old electrical insulating tape to cover the led's - not perfect. Plus I now use Velcro stuck down with 2 sided tape not hot glue - usual I find I need to take out or swap something - far easier with Velcro - just something ,maybe , to think about on your next upgrade :-)

Yip, blue lights every where, the biggest culprit is the cigarette adapter,, as you said going to mask them all out,, can access everything so ,no need for Velcro .. just waiting on monitor coming now to move on to the software installation

as you can tell im pretty excited about the upgrade,,its probably the most exciting upgrade to date.... this really must be coming close to the complete package for me. the heq5 should be able to work on two remote set up modes,,, eqmod and cartes de ceil operated from the pc stick and using the hdmi monitor or the skywatcher wifi adapter and smartphone app the ed80 will get the hitecastro dc focuser controlled from the pc stick and laptop or via Bluetooth keyboard and hdmi monitor
software will allow me to use various cameras on this rig,,, zwo camera and sharpcap,,,,, dslr and backyard eos and astrotoaster
the hdmi monitor has multiple options,,i have the pc stick in the hdmi port but I have an av input socket and I can add a analogue camera to the set up for a live view as well
waiting on a mounting block for a laser to be added and powered from the usb hub,,, have the set up in my head and it looks great lol

I just tried downloading the native driver from the ZWO website and it worked for me (windows 10) so I'm not sure why Windows Defender is blocking it for you. If you want to pm me your email address, I can send the file if you haven't managed to download it yet.

If you install Astrotortilla (or Ansvr) on your system with the indexes, you should be able to get plate solving with Sharpcap. You don't need to set up anything in Astrotortilla, just install it. I don't always need it but it's nice to have for centering an object. It is a drive space hog though. I moved as many programs as I could to an SDCard.

I've seen it on the SharpCap website, but not used it, but one of the best things I've seen which is available when using Sharpcap with ASCOM drivers is the spiral search button. Personally I detest adding wifi and hubs and interconnections and stuff preferring just to use standalone iPad with SkySafari on it, and taking 10 seconds to tap the NGC number into the normal old-fashioned hand control (with long extension cable). Extremely reliable and no dropouts/extra battery drain/more cables/more setup etc. However, that spiral search nearly convinced me to install ASCOM and try it out.

never done anything with plate solving before rob It works pretty well. You would use a program like CDC to select the object and move the scope. If it's not in the field of view, you would then press the "GPS" button on Sharpcap's telescope control. It takes the next frame and compares it with the indexes to figure out where the telescope is actually pointing. Once it solves, it corrects the position of the scope and positions the scope so the object is near the center. Most times, it puts it dead on in the center. Sometimes it's a little skewed off to one side. It's really handy if you have a small narrow field of view. The only thing required to set it up is to install a program like Astrotortilla or Ansvr. With the Computestick, since the disk memory is so limited, it helps limit the number of indexes so you only add what you need for your scope. I also set up Sharpcap to save images to an external SDCard so it doesn't fill up the drive space. The Light Vortex tutorial is good for setting up Astrotortilla with the required indexes. www.lightvortexastronomy.com/tutorial-setting-up-and-using-astrotortilla-for-plate-solving.htmlYou only need be concerned with section 1 for use with Sharpcap. I downloaded all the indexes and moved the ones I'm not using to the SD Card. It also speeds up the result time if you limit the indexes.

Not much progress due to stress..lol. Took the ed80 scope rings and dovetail to work and tapped out the top holes on scope rings to 6mm and fitted exactly the same dovetail as original to the top,, measured out, drilled and bolted on the upgrade box,, nice and secure.. just need to get electric focuser switched over to the ed80 and start a bit of testing.. weather poor 99% of the time here
