Thought I would post here first.
This just my opinion from my perspective. Nothing more.
OK after over a year here is my simple take on Atik camera company, Infinity camera, and it's support in the world of EAA.
First let me say right off the bat. I really like my Infinity camera. Best camera
I have owned to date. Easy to use and wonderful results.
Wonderful software and a good idea on how to use software to make the camera work for all users, very easy. A great new concept many of us were asking for, along with digital camera and USB camera connections. They knew the trend would be to go that route and took full advantage of it. KUDO's to Steve Chambers for that. They also knew anyone can market a China made camera or get the hardware to make a camera now days. The key was getting a software package together that would be simple for all users. They were dead on with that. A Home Run was hit for sure.
SUPPORT ? HMMMM
They will support their cameras through on line forums and help with software.
To a point. That point being to keep from being given a bad reputation as most companies would.
They answer only when and how they want to the North American market.
They asked for input to the camera software of the Infinity camera. They got it.
One of the major cries was about the golden hue presented from the image all the time.
They said it would be addressed and never has been. While they did fix and add a few features to their cameras software this one( and it is a major ) was never fixed. The user really has to have a filter to help get rid of that hue.
STRIKE ONE ATIK.
They love seeing the free marketing being performed for them on Night Skies Network.Com.
Who wouldn't ?
Funny how they never ever give credit to that web site for all it has done for them. Not even a link to it. Really ? Yet some how far far lesser known ( Video Astronomy Live ) and Big Old You Tube are listed and linked up in their software, the stench of non North American of course.
It seems strange to me that they would not send one (NOT ONE ) of their new
Atik Horizon cameras to that really big market ( NORTH AMERICA )for beta and testing and showing off on NSN maybe. I think NSN has more than a few good people who could have beta tested for them.
I suspect they were more afraid of a really open and fair beta testing to the North American public than we know. After all who wants to lose that big market. To me ( and JMHO I say again) I get the feeling because we are not European we are tolerated for our money and nothing more. They will dance with us just enough to keep us silent and spending money. Why else did the only beta testing take place out side North America ? From the images posted on their site, seems like only European beta testers so far. Maybe I'm wrong here , but I don't think so.
FOUL BALL ATIK
On the support forums for Atik cameras I have had one post deleted and one ignored for an answer.
I have never posted much at all and I will admit to being happy with my camera with little to no complaints. The few times I have posted gave a me net result of nothing. They really do pick and chose who and what and how they answer.
STRIKE TWO.
Atik is behind in the count now.
I may have spent my last North American dollar on them.
They can keep it all in Europe as far as I' concerned at this time.
Good products with bad support = bad product.
Just my take on it all.
