Hi folks. We've had some great reports and images from elpajare and i thought it would be of help to new and experienced video astronomers if we could put up our cameras, what we use them for and what we use them on and preferred software.
Could add to this What camera under £1000 would you like to buy.

Cameras What I use just now. Canon 600d and canon 450d modded Backyard Eos software and astrotoaster I find this works for what I like, I went down the DSLR route as the weather has been poor and by having a DSLR I can use it for normal photography.
Qhy5lii colour Bought this as it's usb and was my intention to use on my Orion mini guider. Just never worked out the hype this camera got when it came out,, I just never thought it was that good,,
Samsung scb2000 Ex security camera,, for the price I got my first one at it was a steal £25, I modded this one by putting a 40mm cooling fan inside at the sensor sucking hot air from it, I also fitted a 40mm fan on top and a 18mm fan on each side. What a difference this made,, I used a UTC controller and easycap usb grabber with sharpcap software.
Phil dyer camera Ex security camera but with integration to 1024,, double the exposure of the Samsung scb2000 though I never got close to using that amount of integration. Still a nice camera.
Water 902h Now in its day this was a seriously sensitive camera, mono but this could see in near pitch dark with just a lens,, mine has a couple of hot pixels but with taking darks it will still be up there in my top three cameras,, sharpcap software again.
I would like to get a new usb camera,, really liked the starvis sensor camera's,, but if I don't have decent weather I can't justify spending £350+

Thanks for your kind words I have this cameras: INFINITY color from ATIK. Out of use because a software problem unsolved by the technical service from Atik. Ticked open at August 28, no solution so far. Mallincam AG1,2c with IMX224 using Mallincamsky software. Used with SW 200/800 for Spectroscopy with the Star Analyser 100 filter. No chromatic aberration. Risingsky fan cooled with IMX244 with Risingsky software. Used with SW 200/800 for Galaxies, small Nebulas and other faint objects. High sensibility and small FOV Risingsky fan cooled with IMX178 with Risingsky software. Used with Bresser AR 102xs+ ZWO UV/IR filter for stars, open clusters, globular clusters and some objects <mag 12. Big FOV and realistic color ( CARLOS, remember to remove the UV/IR filter for nebulas and galaxies, hahaha ) I do not have to buy any other camera just to know the possibilities of the material I have. My intention is to get decent photos of heavenly objects with minimal effort and money. I do not look for competition or prizes, just hang out like a retiree

The only camera I use regularly is the IMX178 (GStar Ex3).
I chose this because it seemed like a good all-round camera.
Pretty good for DSOs. When binned 2x2 gives an image scale at around 1.5 arcsec/pixel with my scopes. That seems to be about right.
Also has potenial for lunar/planetary AP and quite handy for spectroscopy and minor planet astrometry.

What advantages do you find in using binning?
Sorry for the off topic

Davy, Im in touch with ATIK but they seems little overwhelmed. Chris, from ATIK, replays to me yesterday after 14 days in silence asking me for a files who had already sent him. His technical service is not the best nor the fastest. Fortunately I have other cameras.

What advantages do you find in using binning? Sorry for the off topic I mostly find it useful with my ASI071 which is 16MB. I use unbinned for astrophotography, but use x2 binning for video astro. The main advantage is that its only an 8MB files so transfer to computer is quicker and stacking etc is much faster. The other thing is that its supposed to reduce noise - although I can't say that I've looked that closely to tell. It does not make an image brighter.
