The mount software is on Google play store,, free download ,,I downloaded it and ,,it looks ok,, now I would have liked the snap option that you get on the Sam ,,I haven't seen any mention of it,,then it would be a very good mount,, wireless mount t control and camera control would have been my ideal mount,,

Kinda liking this 😀

And encoders!
They're stealing your arduino project Davy. They have spies watching you and your thoughts ...

Good find davy. I love SW products! Having said that, I have always been amazed (that I haven't bought one! LOL) by the Celestron SkyProdigy 130mm f/5 (650mm FL) newt. It is only $800 brand new here in Oz (Andrews Communications telescope shop) - about 400 GBP. It has the StarSense self aligning system, runs off wifi, to the free celestron app (which is licenced version of SkySafari) to control it all. Plonk it down, turn it on, and while the starsense self alignment gizmo "takes off" finding its way fully automatically, you get your chairs out. By the time you've sat down its ready to go. Tap an object on the app and it goes there. The f/5 tube isnt bad either ... f/5 so nice and fast, and brings a 224 to focus. (I've seen a CN thread with some dude reporting on it - cheap EAA or something like that?) www.celestron.com/browse-shop/astronomy/telescopes/skyprodigy/skyprodigy-130-computerized-telescope

Oooo, SkyProdigy sounds great for newbies! Aligns itself and looks like it has a Vixen dovetail so different scopes can be used.

Been looking more into this mount today and others and at there reviews to date and I think this mount shows potential. Ok it's a light weight mount and has a 5kg limit,, aye right,, when has that stopped me pushing to the limit 😀.
So I like Skywatcher kit and I like it over celesteron kit I've looked at,, just my preference. So the Skywatcher kit I have, may be getting an edition But I need more portable than I have. Heq5 pro, eq3 pro and sw allview ,,,, may be heading to Iceland in February next year for my birthday and I want very portable as it's only a three day jaunt.
So I wanted to do a bit of astronomy, and hopefully get to see some of the northern lights,, My choices are Skywatcher adventurer Skywatcher Sam And the az gti
The adventurer is nice but never really fancied it.
Skywatcher sam, I liked from the off,,so it was a choice of two,,
I found the snap feature on both, payload is the same,, WiFi control in both, I found a review on the mini that stated you can strip the threads in the alloy housing if you are not careful when mounting a camera,, this was a red flag for me as we tend to wear gloves out in the cold doing our stuff and I don't fancy wrecking the thing at over £200.
So the az gti,, one review already in and the guy is happy with the mount and software,,, bonus. So if we know add the fact you can do goto and it has freedom find encoders it looks a better proposition for my next mount.
Very close to pulling the trigger on buying this,,

I'll have to try sky watcher stuff some time. I've only had two mounts. The cg5 and now a cgem. Couldn't resist the cgem as bintel were selling the last few for $1200- thanks santa.
And don't the skywatcher use steppers instead of servo motors ?

Hi Chris ,, yeah have stepper motors, still have my Rowan mod to do on heq5,, I really need to get motivated,, it's been that long since if been out that half the time I could have gave it a try I just can't be bothered,, I can see how folk walk away from the hobby,,, but I'm in it for the long haul,, I always said it was my retirement hobby,, just now I'm just practising,,lol. I have a few plans.
If,, more like , when I buy the az gti I'm going to sink a home made pier into the garden and run a usb to it,, then I can just stick az gti mount and camera on it and run it from kitchen, till I get sorted out.

New mount in Glasgow now,, should be getting it delivered today at some point, done a quick check via it's tracker.
I put a post in the Skywatcher Facebook page, saying I'm quite disappointed with there website and Facebook pages,, no mention of this mount on either and it's been in sale for a week in the UK,, no information at all apart from the info the retailer has been issued,,, never published my post either,, take it there not interested in home truth's.
