Need to extend the reach of my focus controller.
Can't seem to find any couplers or flat cable in Australia. Overseas stuff is very pricey when shipping is included.
Thanks Robert

Robert, about 10+ years ago I went to my local Jaycar agent who is an Electronics company called Wiltronics and I asked them how I can extend my Focuser cable to 20 metres long. I took along my hand controller and focuser motor to show them the plug needed and they cut the RJ Phone plug ends off a 20 metre telephone extension cable (yep, the flat one) and crimped on the correct little RJ plugs for me (4P4C). Only cost me $19 all up. Here's mine, Motor end:

Thanks Ken. Not sure my Jaycar do that kind of thing any more. Chris thanks for the offer. I think I have solved the problem. Some more info on the subject - Paul at Proconnect will make flat 4P4C cable to any length to order. www.proconnect.com.au/You can use the more readily-available 6P6C couplers (straight through not crossover) to connect 4P4C focusser hand-controller cables. Tried it - works.

Local electricians should be able to knock up a cable for you. It's only Telephone cable with the right plugs which take a few seconds to put on. There's an electrician in West Ipswich that does Telephone cabling. You might know of one closer. Here's the one in West Ipswich: www.ejelectricomms.com.au/data-communications

I struggled to find correct RJ plug a few years back I kept buying wrong one,, ended up buying a couple of bags of different RJ connectors and a RJ terminal crimp tool from eBay,, and watched a video on YouTube on how to do it,,

That's cheap. I'll look out for a good old Chinese set.
