Forecast. Clear(ish) skies tonight and tomorrow. First time since I don't know when.
Got the GSO newt with asi071 and maybe guiding if I get that far tonight. And remote via the pc stick (hanging off the usb hub).
First real chance I've had with this combo so hope to iron out the bugs tonight.

Well that were a disaster. I knew it would be as I couldn't even upload the picture of the setup I was going to use.
First. Had no end of trouble with the pc stick. In the end it wouldn't work at all. Even though it was fine during the day when I tested it.
Then the pics with the asi071 all looked crappy or foggy. Newt mirrors were okay. Then saw that the camera was dewy - I had been running it at -10C. It has a heater so turned it on but didn't seem to help.
Gave up on that. Put in my 224. No worries. Got some shots. Will post tomorrow.

And one question. That's a bit of weight I've got with the camera. Its balanced OK when its at the sort of angle in the pic. But when I tilt the scope in RA it becomes fairly unbalanced. How do you correct for that weight imbalance ? Attached some sort of counterweight to the tube opposite the camera ?
