Hello chaps,
i have finally decided to order the Equinox from FLO and I expects delivery tomorrow/Friday. However, I have just learnt that my camera may not reach focus without a diagonal or an extension tube. Can anyone advise on this? I have several diagonals I could use but would I still need an extension tube and if so what's the best size needed for VA?

Hi Karl, with my Equinox I can reach focus with a diagonal, but for imaging I use an extension tube to keep the optical train as straight as possible. With my DMK cams, the drawtube is extended 60mm and then I have a 60mm extension tube, then the camera. This gives me plenty of room to move the focus point in or out depending on whether I have a barlow or reducer fitted. I don't know the exact position of your camera sensor, but I would think it would be similar.

Karl, if you use a Focal Reducer you'll be fine.
If you don't, then you may need an extension tube or Diagonal as Allan said.

Even without the reducer I had a good FOV and much better than the C11 top right. With this I had the MF5 and a 5mm spacer though this had the Mallincam. The lower left had the CR6 (Dynamic) in the Equinox and you can clearly see the difference. As a finder it worked perfect as when I slewed to M82 it was not in the FOV of the C11 but it was in the ED80 so I'm very pleased

Thanks.

Glad you got something last night Karl. I waited till 1.30am, but didn't see you up and running again, so had to get some sleep. I'll catch some images from your amazing rig next time.

Thanks Chris love this target and have had some really nice shots in the past like the one below. Last night I was having a nightmare with the wind again so the image was just a quickie to check the difference in FOV. The CR6 I need to learn the settings as I've not really had to play with them until now but I know this is a little beauty of a camera! Thanks to Carlos Fandangos The Jackal!

Thanks Allan, It was mental last night. Partly bad luck and partly trying to run before I've learnt to crawl!! However, I have had another remote focuser turn up today for the ED80 so that will help once set up, plus a light filter and field flattener. Once I get Miloslick working and get in about 200 hours of practice I'll be having loads of fun! Thanks for joining me and great shots of the moon really clear!
