I have been using SharpCap for several years, since I bought and Orion Star Shoot Solar System Imager IV. I found it gave me the best results of all the freeware I tried. But the camera died about a year and a half after I bought it, so now I toggle between Honestech that came with the Mallincam MCV-1-E frame grabber, Miloslick, and SharpCap just to see which I prefer. SharpCap autosaves a settings text file along with the AVI, so I always have a record of the settings. I like that.

I had trouble with Sharpcap. It took over my computer and carried a whole bunch of malware with it when I downloaded it. Took a couple of weeks to get rid of it all. Then I tried Manycam, and it was OK. But after a few weeks it too took control of my computer. Every time I clicked on anything it opened itself. Two days to uninstall it and all it's hundreds of hidden files! It's always interesting how different people have different results with the same software. Now I use the paid version of WebcamMax and had no problems at all. I am about to buy Miloslick. I've had it with Freeware

I've had it with Freeware Hi Ken, I got Miloslick a few days ago but I can't seem to get it working with the camera! It seems to know which Com port I'm in but keeps telling me it can not find the camera. I'm still waiting for Bill to come back to me on it. I'm sure once it's working however it will be great Regards Karl

Karl,
On occasion I've had the same issue with Miloslick, where the camera won't appear in the list even with selecting Rescan. I closed Miloslick and re-opened it, and it's been there every time.

Thanks Jim, I have tried all sorts to no avail. Bill has suggested something so hopefully I can get it sorted soon. Thanks again and lovely to see you here too Regards Karl

Glad to be here, Karl. Last night I had a world of trouble with Miloslick all of a sudden locking up, and I had to reboot the computer to get it to see the camera. Never had a problem before. The control functions were fine, just no video displayed although it was great in the monitor I use in tandem.

Hi Jim, For me it's the opposite, I can select the Dazzle capture and get the image I just can't connect to the camera for control. I'm still waiting for Bill to work this out for me as I have no idea what is wrong. I can use the normal Mallincam software no problem so I don't think it is anything to do with my PC of comp ports. Cheers Karl

I installed SharpCap (without the junk) but only seldom use it; mostly for testing or daytime stuff.
For my ZWOASI120MC, I use the most excellent FireCapture!! It's excellent; I love it so much I sent a donation to Torsten.
I am a WebCam Max user. I am dubious that a solve for direct to NSN will come out of the MallincamSky developers.
I have hesitated to go the Miloslick route. Its another level of complexity that I dont need at the moment.

Rick, I asked Bill from Miloslick about direct connection to NSN with his software. He said it's something he will work on in future versions. It didn't come out with the new Version 3.
Bill is a member in here, he may be able to let us know when it could happen.
