My hand controller gave up the ghost on my new AVX mount today. I swear nothing seems to go right LOL. Luckly I have an older v4 Nexstar controller to use in the mean time. Anyone ever dealt with celestron for warranty repair?

My handset only worked for a day when I bought my new VX mount. I was fortunate that my dealer here replaced it pronto. I did however find that my older CG5-GT handset worked fine with the VX. The menus were slightly different, but almost the same, and the handset controlled the mount just fine. Good luck with getting a repair or replacement Hemmi.

Sorry Lee, I can't help. I've never owned a Celestron product. But surely the warranty should replace it.

I programmed my Nexstar SE hand controller with cg5 gem firmware and I'm back up and running. Thanks!

Good job Hemmi. You may find that the RTC (real time clock) will not keep the time settings between sessions but that only means you have to enter it each time. Thats all I had to do with mine. There was a setting for observing past the meridian that was not there either, but that wasn't essential for normal use.

I ordered a new Nexstar+ HC, they are on sale for 99 dollars. I would spend half that and month of my time dealing with celestron for a repair.

How about using ascom platform and drivers for the celestron I do use them, but need nexremote software or Hand controller to perform initial alignment.

Hi hemmi...I do alignment In cartes de ciel..with eqmod..can it not do it with ascom and cdc with celestron??? To my knowledge you can't with Celestron, only eqmod. But nexremote software works well for that, then after alignment you can use ascom. Regards, Lee
